Big Hit of the Week

Featured Replies

Raceland's Nevan Johnson (6'3" 250 Jr) and Alex Risner (6'0" 240 Jr) delivered some big hits at Down and Dirty at EKU this week. Don't look away after the first big hit, there's more.

Austin Manis (6'1" 230 Jr) was the rabbit and did well at camp as well.

Love it. Boy in the green wasn't stopping.

No. He had good effort and honestly did well in the drill (this was the semi-finals of a competition for the camp), just got jacked, twice.

Dude got jacked up. To his credit, he never quit. That's some large lads layin' the wood. Good stuff Ram!

This kind of stuff just gets my juices flowing! Can't wait for team camp and the beginning of the season. Thanks, Ram.

Actually, the boy in the green looked like he more than held his own.

I agree... it's easy to lay someone out when their eyes are on the ball and don't see the hit coming. Not taking anything away from the big hits, but this kid was focused on finding the ball, not doging blockers...

Yea, but that was the drill, 113 players were doing to same drill and there were no other hits of that magnitude.

The drill, they called it "Bagdad", had three offensive players, an OL, an FB, and a Rabbit playing QB, then one DL all in a six by eight rectangle. The defensive lineman had to touch the Rabbit without getting knocked out of the rectangle. The offense was not allowed to hold or double team and had to stop the DL from touching the Rabbit for 10 seconds.

Full contact without full equipment?

I like the drill, a lot!!!

This is a good drill, I like it. What is the penalty if the offense holds or double teams the defensive player? Just curious.

I loved the drill as well. Porky, they played the drill as a competition and score was kept. The winner was the first team to get to four (after three plays the O goes to D, and the D goes to O for another three plays). If the offense kept the defensive player from touching the rabbit or pushed the defensive player out, the offense got a point. If the defense touch the rabbit, the rabbit ran out, got held, or double teamed the defense got a point. So, the only penalty was the loss of a point.
