Why is it "necessary"? This is not the BCS where you have to build up points to get into the title picture. The only thing that matters is the "W"...plain and simple. The season's not over if the Rams win by less than (2) TD's. Most people already have their minds made up as to weather they think Raceland's a contender or not, and I don't think one game's point spread is going to change that.

Without any real offensive firepower this year they will struggle to beat good teams.

Young on the 29 yard fumble scoop and score, and Connor (Messer's) 50 yard interception return were the two defensive scores.

From what I heard on the radio, this game was much closer than the score indicated, at least most of the game.

I witnessed this game first hand. Turnovers on both sides, but Ironton clearly dominated up front. The Conley kid for Russell is a good athlete, as is #11 who had some nice returns. The QB for Ironton was the difference in the game in my opinion, as was their line play. Not the Ironton of old, but still Ironton. Russell kept it close until the last part of the fourth quarter. After an Ironton turnover Russell had chances with the score tied at 14, but threw an interception on a sprint out pass when the QB overthrew the RB and Ironton returned it for a TD. From that point on they never could regain momentum. The right side of Russell's line seems stronger than the left offensively.

I wouldn't have believed it until I heard the game scenerio last night. If not for a late break on a Musketeer miscue, they would have lost.

Both of these teams are in for a long season if they don't improve.

I don't think they'll have any problem being motivated this week. If they do then I will be concerned. I think it being the typical first game, along with East being a little better than expected, accounts for last week. I think you'll see a different attitude this week.

Baker's legit...no doubt, but do you really think Ashland's defense is going to hold the RAMS to seven points with only two starters back? Also, the New Cath game wouldn't have been as close if NCC hadn't turned it over four times, and Ashland scored late to pull to within 11 (the final margin). If Raceland contains the corners and the offense gets on track I like the RAMS by 2 TD's.

Eagles by 3 TD's.
