I know Pikeville beat Hazard 42-6 last year in the regular season, and lost 15-14 in the playoffs.

Charlie Banks---Letcher County Central 9-16 for 121 yards passing. 12 rushing attempts for 83 more yards. He scored two TD's rushing. On defense he had 6 solo tackles and also on kickoffs he put the ball inside the 5 three times. QB - Safety-Kickoff man. Not bad for a kid who has helped his team to its 9th straight victory, 4-0 in District play,. He has thrown for 16 td's--ran for 16 more TD's---leads the team in picks on defense (3) . This on a team that has only been in existence for three years and is experiencing its 1st winning season at 9-1 in class 5 A.

I wouldn't trade the fans we have at Letcher County Central for any in the state!

We have a great field at LCC. We have the sports turf and of course a Jumbotron, which puts us as the only school I believe to have one. We do our starting lineups on it, with each player telling his name and position. We also have instant replay on it. If someone will tell me how, I will post a pic of it.

They run a 5-3 anyway!

You spread the field to leave less people in the box and therefore making it easier to run.

You guys are still young and usually young kids have a hard time winning close games. Whitley easily could have beaten Middlesboro, PCC, LCC, and Clay and then there wouldn't be any complaining about the coach. I know it is hard to be patient, but just give him some time.

We have a QB down here at LCC, who may be a big time prospect next year. He is about 6'3" 190 pounds and has lead our team to a 7-1 start, which is the best record this school has had. He has not produced huge numbers yet, but I look for him to put up huge numbers next year. Charlie Banks is his name and he has ran for close to 500 yards and 13 Td's and thrown for 1400 yards and 13 Td's.

On Friday, October 12 Pikeville High School will be celebrating 20 years since their first State Championship by inviting all three teams to celebrate. Players and coaches from all three teams (1987, 1988, 1989) have been invited. As a kid I remember watching these teams play and I used to look up to so many of them. It will be so exciting to see all of these men again. They were simply unbeatable (except for one game against Belfry in 89) during these years and it was a time that will never be forgotten by many Panther fans.

Letcher had 326 yards of offense, which is 89 yards below their season average.

Charlie Banks 6'3" 185lb QB of Letcher Central had another good week. Was 16-25 for 212 yards passing. he also rushed 9 times for 117. He had three ruching TD's and two passing TD's as Letcher goes to 5-1 in only their 3rd season on the gridiron. One of the few qb's that plays on both sides of the ball. He plays def.back as well.
