theguru Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 BluegrassPreps.com and the Kentucky News Network are once again working together to promote high school football in Kentucky. We are currently taking nominations for the BGP/KNN player of the week! The player of the week can be from any team and is based on game performance from this weekend. Please submit your nomination in this thread and provide as much background/stats/information as possible from their game this week. The winner will be announced on "The Saturday Morning High School Scoreboard Show" Hosted by Al Mayo. The show can be heard on all of these great stations: WLSI-Pikeville WHOP-Hopkinsville WAIN-Columbia WRVK-Mt. Vernon/Renfro Valley WAJV-Princeton WTTL-Madisonville WOKT-Ashland WJRS-Jamestown/Russell Springs WFKN-Franklin WBRT-Bardstown WIEL-Elizabethtown WCND-Frankfort WKYW-Frankfort WKED-Frankfort WFKY-Frankfort WKXO-Berea WMST-Mt. Sterling WEKY-Richmond WIRV-Irvington WSFE-Somerset WSFC-Somerset WLOC-Horse Cave WEKT-Elkton WCBL-Benton WCYN-Cynthiana WRLV-Salyersville WPRT-Prestonsburg Also, from host Al Mayo: Sorry I'm a bit tardy getting back to you guys but, I'm here now. First of all, this award applies only to VARSITY players. Whenever you place a name for nomination, I need the following to be listed. Player name, position, class (Soph, jr, sr. etc). Stats for the week's performance. Carries, yards gained pass att/comp...tackles etc. Please do not estimate stats. Just telling me a player may have run for 150 yards, won't make the cut. Ideally a listing would look like this--- "Bob Smith a 5'1" Tailback from Smithville High School gained 100 yards on 10 carries. He also caught 4 passes for 30 yards in a 14-0 win over Jones High School" OR Bob Smith, a 5'1" QB from Smithville High School completed 15 of 20 passes for 100 yards, and 1 TD as the Smiths beat Jonesville 14-0. Otherwise, post as many players as you like if you think they merit a mention. ALL Players listed will be used on the show as nominees, so their stats and performace will be included. A Ploayer Of The Week will be chosen from the weekly nominees. Thanks in advance for the help, and have a GREAT season! Al Mayo KNN High School Scoreboard Show

Blackshirts Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 J.T. Britt of Lewis County. He had 264 yards (tied with Ben Revere at 13th all time receiving yards in a game) receiving on 19 catches (State tying record for most catches in a game). Side note he has 99 catches on the year (most receptions in a year) with 1360 receiving yards for the year (19th most all time receiving yards in a season). I think he is a very valid choice for this weekly honor. If someone breaks his 99 receptions in a season it's because they went deep into the playoffs. If you look at who did it during a 10 game season he wins every time.
TigerPaw18 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Fern Creek's sophmore QB Bryan Hynes completed 13 of 16 passes, for 236 yards and 5 TD's and led his team to a victory over Louisville Eastern. Thats nice EFFICIENCY from a kid they are gonna have two more years!
HazzBeen Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Charlie Banks---Letcher County Central 9-16 for 121 yards passing. 12 rushing attempts for 83 more yards. He scored two TD's rushing. On defense he had 6 solo tackles and also on kickoffs he put the ball inside the 5 three times. QB - Safety-Kickoff man. Not bad for a kid who has helped his team to its 9th straight victory, 4-0 in District play,. He has thrown for 16 td's--ran for 16 more TD's---leads the team in picks on defense (3) . This on a team that has only been in existence for three years and is experiencing its 1st winning season at 9-1 in class 5 A.
RockPride Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Will Stein - Trinity - 21/27 - 345 yards - 6 td's (3 quarters) Nathan Dutton - Trinity - 10 rec - 156 yards, 4 td's (3 quarters)
BC CAT Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Bath County's Blandon Clemons had 240 yards and 4 TD's on 18 carries (3 quarters) in a 41-19 victory over Nicholas County. He also had an interception on the defensive side of the ball. He finished the regular season with 1419 yards on 123 carries for 20 rushing TD's. 12 yards a carry is a pretty nice average. Clemons finished with 154 points scored.
