Well although John Hardin is 9-0 and Bowling Green is 8-1 and both very solid programs if I looked at the playoffs right you 2 would matchup in round 3 and then have to come to Rash stadium to face the Red Devils. Pencil in who you want but after round 2 I hope your pencil has an eraser because John Hardin, Bowling Green, Owensboro and it could be any of those 3 in the end to play Highlands. Highlands I think can be inked in because they have beaten anybody and everybody and their games have not been close. They beat Hopkinsville 42-8 and Owensboro just pitched the shutout against Hoptown last week 34-0. I know this means nothing but that is why they play the game. I am ready for the playoffs and bring them all on I am truly ready for some good gut wrenching games.

This game is on the turf at Rash stadium Friday night thank goodness with all the rain so far this week. Any thoughts on this matchup? I feel Owensboro will have way too much defense in this game and should handle the Colonels rather soundly. OHS - 42 Henderson - 12

I would say that Joe Prince's son from Owensboro is going to really be good. He is a freshman right now I think he is 6' 3" with a nice arm very QB smart doesn't make alot of mistakes. He is the freshman and JV QB right now and is learning behind a senior QB minus their first lose to PRP where he did not have any blocking they have given up 12 points all year and one was a TD last night at Bowling Green. He will have a ton of weapons in the next 3 years as his class has only lost twice in 3 years and most of the games have been 50+ to zip with a continuous clock the whole 2nd half of most games. He needs to put a little more meat on and he may be the best QB in the state his senior year.

Well I will say I really do not know how to call this one as an Owensboro insider I know of some key injuries and some other things that will play a big role in this game but I am going to give it to the devils. OHS - 22 Hoptown - 17

Man when we went to the soccer games the soccer field is right behind moonlite I could not make it through a game without telling my wife I wanted to go eat at moonlite. So it is $2.50 a dozen and we can sell them for $5 yeah that may not be a bad idea I may have to suggest that to someone that would sure raise some money for the program.

Well my wife was with me and we are on a little bit of a health kick and she would have killed me if I bought them, and they would have been gone before I got to my vehicle we had to park so far away. Wasn't a bad walk until after the game and we had to walk up that big hill to get out wasn't good on my knee. That really is a good idea too and they also brought pizza over into our bleachers to sell. We are starting to thing like that to raise money for the football program on game nights they even walk the bleachers selling drinks for us lazy people. LOL

Jeb good luck the rest of the way out if you guys play like you did Friday night I am sure you can go along way in the playoffs. Very nice win and we have Hopkinsville this week which is a big district game that we need to win and now with several injuries is going to be a nice challenge as was last week playing on the road and you guys had a very big crowd which is what high school football is about. Buy the way do you guys sell KK donuts after every home game? Nice idea to raise money.

Jeb you are right I give Meade all the credit and they played a good game but in one of your earlier posts you said they dominated the game and I was stating that a 7-7 game with 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter is not by any means dominating! Meade made the plays down the stretch to win the game. Good Job Meade Co. But I will say Apollo has lost like 4 in a row and have no QB and Meade won 21-7 and we beat Apollo last year 55-14 and it was never close and that is why I think our boys took it that Meade only beat Apollo 21-7 we should not have any problem. Overlooked. Just like LSU and UK upset Yes! UNEXPECTED? Yes! if LSU and UK played 10 times LSU wins 8 out of 10 but it wasn't this one. Same for Owensboro if they replayed this game 10 times could be the same way. Turnovers don't happen that did before and all other variables but Meade did a good job and I just want to know how you only beat Apollo 21-7? As well as Meade played Owensboro Friday night you should have beaten Apollo by 40+.

Amen on that one UTL they need the heart they showed at Boone Co. Or at Daviess Co. But when go through 3 or 4 years in middle school and freshman and JV and you win by 50 all the time sometimes you start just going through the motions and do not pick up the intensity. I think this lose will be good for them a reality check because BG and highlands would have beat us by 50 on Friday night the way we played. I look for some long practices this week.

Well I would rather not comment on the officiating but I think I will. No disrespect to the Greenwave they played a really good game and Owensboro's QB was sick all week and probably should have stayed home to rest up for this week's game against Hoptown but the officiating in the 1st half was about as bad as I have seen for any game this year. I have been to several games not just OHS and when you let a team punch kids in the helmet after the plays and let an offensive line move early without throwing the flag yeah you are going to get an advantage on a defense. Every time Meade ran the motion play the outside guy #50 moved early every play and because he was not fast enough to stop anyone legally. The pass interferance call that lead to Meade's first score the OHS defender was in front of the WR with his back to him and caught the ball and was pulled down from behind as the ball was getting there and was called for the penalty. I do not know what game the officiating crew was watching in the first half but it was bad. Meade Co. played a really nice game and I think Owensboro just went in thinking well if we show up we should win and that did not happen and they better decide to play every game like it is the state finals or it may be a short year. Yes Meade played a really good game but it wasn't as lopsided as some are making it out to be it was tied midway through the 4th quarter 7-7 and Meade scored to make it 14-7 and then OHS threw the INT for a touchdown late to make the final 21-7. But you know you win some and you lose some and I guess it would be better to lose now midway through the season than in the playoffs. Good Luck to both teams the rest of the year.

Great game for the Devils last night and a coming out party for the Douglas kid excellent game. Boone has a solid running game and I thought the devils were in trouble on Boone's first possession when they had a really nice 12 to 15 play drive in which they had one pass play and one run by someone other than Pharris and then all they did the other plays was hand off to Pharris. He is a good back and Owensboro made good adjustments after that and shut him down. I would like to thank all of the Boone Co. fans for all of your compliments on our team and all the hospitality. Hey guys we played Boone Co. and our round trip was around 7 hours and we went up played at 7 pm eastern time and got home between 1 and 2 am eastern time. All I know is the boys left at 11:30 and stopped about half way and ate lunch then stopped somewhere else and then got to the game a few hours early. We had several parents that went up early in a motor home and tailgated and let me tell you it was just fun to get up there early and socialize and relax before the game started. Win or lose it was a good experience for the Devils fortunately we won but I think on all the long trips just my suggestion is make it a day and pack the grill and tailgate get everyone to pitch in and have a good time.

Yeah Purplehaze I remember all of those battles with the purples although I went to Apollo many moons ago I loved to watch OHS football they were always good as is BG. Good Luck tonight as well and thank because I think we may need a little help sat. at Boone Co. :devil:

I am going to say the Cole Lanham kid for Daviess Co. I have seen him play 3 times this year and if that kid had anybody that could catch he would have some awesome stats. He is a junior so maybe next year they can find something for the receivers so they can catch a ball thrown at the letters. Lanham is very quick as well and when flushed from the pocket he is deadly with his speed as well. I am sure there are better in the state but this kid is good on an average team and sure is fun to watch.

I totally agreee because before BG can play Highlands in the finals they may have to come to Rash Stadium and beat one of the best defenses in the state. Not knocking anybody but before you can predict a score it has to be scheduled and right now there are several variables left for that to happen. When it comes to the playoffs too you never know how it will play out. Hopefully Owensboro can play BG and Highlands. But there alot of football left to play and I look forward to seeing how it all plays out for everyone. Boone Co. will be a good test for Owensboro this weekend.

Nope no relation! But I will tell you this, my son does play on the team and I go and watch practice some and I am just telling you that a good coach never shows his whole hand. All of these teams request film and you have to always change things up or you are too predictable. Right now in 5a I see about 5 teams with a shot Bowling Green, Highlands, John Hardin, Owensboro and Woodford I may throw in Anderson Co. As well because they have been winning though I do not know much about them. If Owensboro beats Hoptown if I am not mistaken the road to Papa Johns in the top bracket will come through Owensboro and home field means a bunch.

Well Owensboro has been working a few things at practice and you do not want to show your whole hand until you are called. So far everyone has just been calling and nobody has went all in. I have seen several new things at practice the last few weeks that really looks good. I will not reveal them but when you go to the game and say where did that play come from well just remember I said it here. Owensboro has plenty of RBs so the lose of shemwell for a week will not be that big of a problem but I do not know much about Boone Co. except that have an exceptional runner and if they are one demensional they may be in trouble against the devils D. Owensboro shutdown Cole Lanham for DC and pretty much controlled that game and the Lanham kid is a very good QB so we will see if the D is up to a new challenge of stopping a runner. Oh and if anyone goes to the OHS home games could somebody tell the guy that stand on the top row by the press box and yells "Put Josh in!" Every play and tries to call plays from the stands to politely sit down and enjoy the game he really gets on my nerves!

Master you can probably disregard GREEN NATION's post he is a Owensboro Catholic person and is just jealous that we played them and never had to punt the ball and beat them easily. You know you have lost to 2 teams that are still undefeated in Evansville Reitz, in which they are just awesome that QB is going to be time and also The Red Devils who are also 5-0 well maybe until this weekend.

I am hearing Yorel Shemwell will be out of this game for disciplinary reasons which if so will be a blow to the Owensboro offense but they do have some running backs that can step in, that not many people have heard of yet. One got some minutes last week and busted a big gainer for a TD in the Ohio Co. game. This really is not the game that Shemwell needed to bonehead something and get in trouble though.

Well Owensboro will be at 100% on the defensive side of the ball and we should see what they can do against the run. They have been pretty good against the run except for the Christian Co. game and they a few defensive guys out. I am going to say if Owensboro can stop the run and Boone Co. has to start airing it out the red devils will be in the drivers seat because their secondary is quick to the ball when it is in the air and they force a lot of turnovers. With that said I am going to predict Owensboro being ready for this game and will show up to play and beat Boone Co. in a close 17-14 win with a game winner from super freshman kicker Trey Cain. But I can also see if Owensboro can not stop the run they will be in for a long night and it might be a long drive home for the devils.

I look for the Red Devils to make early work of the Eagles and get some guys a little rest and let some other guys get some experience. The score may not show how this game really was when it is all said and done. Hopefully the Devils wil not lok past this game as they travel to Boone Co. next week very big test. A way for a kid to get noticed that may not get as much exposure is going t the kcking combine. The kicker from Owensboro made the finals for this year in LA in January. He is the only kid from KY that made it to te finals but he is also in the freshman and under division. It is broken down by class. It is kicking.com for any of you that do not know about it. Several excellent kickers from all over the country and you are promoted to all colleges if you are in the top 20.

Owensboro High School has a freshman kicker that has been quite impressive this year. He is 100% on XPs and FGs so far this year and also has had to make 2 tackles on kick-offs that saved 2 TDs. He has hit from 37, 26 and last week hit one from 40 though not greatly impressive for a kicker but might be for a high school freshman. There are some teams in the state that flip a coin on wheather or not to kick an extra point and definately would not try a field goal. Those people in Owensboro are really looking forward to seeing what this kid can do in the next 4 years.:devil:

Well then if they will not go far when they start playing good teams that will be Friday night. OHS has some big time defenders and the DBs are quick. With Duncan back this week it adds more speed. I do not think Lanham will have 5 days to decide what to do with the ball Friday night like he did last week. Henderson rushed him but they were slow once they got there. OHS will bring speed and the have been practicing extra hours all week for this game they want to make sure DC has their hands full that is for sure. I think some people will be surprised at some of the things OHS is going to do in this game.
