Meade dominated this game. Owensboro had only 117 total yards of offense . The Greenwave defense did not give up any play for more than six yards . Owensboro has some good ball players that showed great sportsmanship as a team. A non district game for both teams . I am sure that their coach's will look at film and have them ready next Friday . Good luck OHS, and great job Meade Co. keep it up!!!!

I didn't get to attend this game, but I have to say from what I heard over the phone that the Devils flat laid an egg tonight. Im very dissapointed that OHS got beat by Meade(no disrespect), but this further confirms that OHS must get somebody who can call some better offensive plays over there. Thoughts....

-If an opposing defense has 8 in the box, use a fullback please.

-OHS needs to quit the QB roll out pass. Their QB isn't mobile enough

-Try the deep ball every once in a while. You only got Wayne Duncan and Yante' Williams to go deep. Isn't that enough speed.

-Don't throw on 3rd and short. Please dont.

-Bring back the quick slants to the possesion recievers(Cannon and Royal)

-Try the quick WR screen to Wayne or Yante'

-Marcus Winstead is the 3rd fastest kid in the state ya know?

-Try to hit the running back out of the backfield. If the line is stacked, its all day.

 

I really mean no disrespect by all this, but I don't believe OHS can win a state championship with the anemic offense that they have now. Hopefully the Red Devil coaches can band together and come up with a way for OHS to be more sucsessful on offense.

What are some of the stats for Meade Co? How did J.L do in the game?

Defense is what wins ballgames. You spoke of only the offense. Meade did not put seven in the box, they ran a 3-5, 1 nose guard 2 ends . linebackers shot the gaps . Meades defense dominated .In fact they have dominated their last four games, a total of 137 yards rushing combined for four teams . Meades offense has over 1200 yards passing and 1100 yards rushing in seven games thus far. Ask the people who went to the game and they will say Meade was and is the better team . No disrespect taken...But give the Meade kids credit for being the better team after a 20-3 loss last year. Meade seems to start slow every year,last year we started 2-5 and made it to the regional finals.

To say Meade is better then Owensboro definitely is not the thing to say. I attended this game and it was awful to see what the fans and players have to go through, everybody and their grandma who doesn't know a lick about football, knows Owensboro runs on first and second down, and passes on third. The Owensboro defense was put in too many bad situations in this one. Hopefully they can bounce back and beat Hopkinsville. They better find some offense or they are going to be in a world of hurt.

I was there too. Meade defended the game they way they needed to. A questionable penalty on the the play before the Devils TD would have made this game a shutout because the ball was picked and ran 20 yards the other way before the back judge dropped the flag. The ball was tipped so the receivers were fair game.

Owensboro is very predictible. Unbalanced line to the right, run to the tackle or bounce outside. The Waves were there to stop it every time.

The Devils special teams are top notch and were nearly an equalizer.

I was at the game and Meade was far and away the better team last night. Owensboro just couldn't get anything going on the ground and the Green Wave defense was up to the task of shutting Shemwell and Douglas down. Shemwell had 14 yards on four carries, Douglas had 46 on 18.

 

J.L. didn't have that great of a night with two interceptions, but he didn't need to have a great night with the way his defense was playing. J.L. finished 12-of-22, for 116 yards and a TD. He also scored the first TD of the game on a 1-yard keeper.

 

Alex Furnival was huge for Meade last night. Ran the ball 21 times for 76 yards and had that huge INT return for the TD. Brandon Barr caught 4 passes for 69 yards and a score and was wide open on the 26-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Great night by him.

 

Good win for the Green Wave. Hopefully they can keep it up next week against North Hardin...

The ball was not tipped and the flag was way down before the ball was intercepted. The questionable call was from the line judge on Meade County sideline. Which him and the back judge were awful all night. The passing interference on 3 and long, they was no contact period, blown call. But as for last night the better team was Meade and they played the best they could, and Owensboro just came out flat. If played again I don't think it would be the same results. But a thumbs up to Meade players and coaching staff they were ready!

Well I would rather not comment on the officiating but I think I will. No disrespect to the Greenwave they played a really good game and Owensboro's QB was sick all week and probably should have stayed home to rest up for this week's game against Hoptown but the officiating in the 1st half was about as bad as I have seen for any game this year. I have been to several games not just OHS and when you let a team punch kids in the helmet after the plays and let an offensive line move early without throwing the flag yeah you are going to get an advantage on a defense. Every time Meade ran the motion play the outside guy #50 moved early every play and because he was not fast enough to stop anyone legally. The pass interferance call that lead to Meade's first score the OHS defender was in front of the WR with his back to him and caught the ball and was pulled down from behind as the ball was getting there and was called for the penalty. I do not know what game the officiating crew was watching in the first half but it was bad. Meade Co. played a really nice game and I think Owensboro just went in thinking well if we show up we should win and that did not happen and they better decide to play every game like it is the state finals or it may be a short year. Yes Meade played a really good game but it wasn't as lopsided as some are making it out to be it was tied midway through the 4th quarter 7-7 and Meade scored to make it 14-7 and then OHS threw the INT for a touchdown late to make the final 21-7. But you know you win some and you lose some and I guess it would be better to lose now midway through the season than in the playoffs. Good Luck to both teams the rest of the year.

There were some questionable calls, but Sr. certainly had their chances tonight. Hats off to Meade, they came out and executed much better than Owensboro from start to finish. I don't think for a minute that, talent wise, Meade is 14 points better than the 'Boro. But talent will only get you so far. Meade was the better team on this night and deserved the win. The Devils need to refocus and learn to come out and play with enthusiasm EVERY friday night.

Amen on that one UTL they need the heart they showed at Boone Co. Or at Daviess Co. But when go through 3 or 4 years in middle school and freshman and JV and you win by 50 all the time sometimes you start just going through the motions and do not pick up the intensity. I think this lose will be good for them a reality check because BG and highlands would have beat us by 50 on Friday night the way we played. I look for some long practices this week.

I think that if Highlands or BG played Owensboro on Friday night, I think either team could have picked their score. Just not a good game, they will regroup hopefully for the stretch run, the last 4 to 8 games left. Good luck this week.

Wow.....Meade isn't getting any respect at all in this thread.......they should get props for playing their butt off and beating a great team....All I hear is excuses on why Owensboro didn't win...........
