Bullitt East has had one year (2022 ?) where they could compete head to head with the Big Boys in 6A. This is 2025 and this BE squad cannot compete head to head with those teams. Manual wins by a lot.

#6 is Watson. The young man and his family moved to Louisville in the offseason from Campbellsville so that he could play against a more competitive schedule in a more competitive program.

I beg to differ. A very direct example is Seneca HS in Louisville. During their last 3 years in 6A (2016,17,18) their record was 1-32. The last 3 years in 5A (2022,23,24) their record was 17-16. Not world beaters but not the front door mat. I am sure there are many other schools you could research that dropped to a smaller class and have had much better success than they had in the larger class. On the flip side, do you really think CAL, Beechwood, Belfry, etc. would nose dive if they were promoted up a class (or two). Indiana high school football has had the promotion/relegation system in place for years and it works very well. Will it be perfect for every single school? No. Will it be better for a vast majority of schools that would qualify? Yes.

With Julian getting closer and closer to retirement, I doubt he has much appetite for significant changes, but a new KHSAA leadership group should consider some number of these potential improvements: 1. install a promotion and relegation system. The Beechwoods and CALs move up, the Western Hills and Shawnees move down. 2. Drop down to either 4 or 5 classifications. Don’t fret so much about “geography”. We have 4 lane highways and interstate highways all over the Commonwealth. 3. Expand Districts from 4 to 6 schools. See #2 above related to geography. 4. Shorten the season by one week by eliminating one round of the playoffs. 0-10 and 1-9 teams DO NOT earn a trip to the post season. 5. Enable some sort of option for 2 schools to come together to form 1 football program. Way TOO MANY high school football programs in Kentucky have only 25 to 35 players in the entire program INCLUDING freshman.

Follow along at the KHSAA website. They posted…. “The RPI will be released each season at the start of the fifth playing week, and will be calculated for the regular season only. Any edits to the schedule of a team after the calculation of RPI has stopped for that season will not result in additional adjustment or recalculation.”

With their schedule, CAL rarely plays close games. Therefore, alternating QB’s is fine. In tight games it will be Burke.

Central Hardin is a weak 6A team. This will be CAL early and often. ?‍♂️⏰

I don’t think the Ballard offense realizes the season began a few weeks ago.

Trinity had 2 or 3 “near miss” explosive plays in the second half. Once the Rocks got 1/2 way thru Q4 Coach Cobb kept the ball on the ground to eat up clock. And, by the way, Carmel ain’t bad. They had something to say about it as well.

I do not know the specifics of this student-athlete, but “reclass” students are not allowed and not eligible under KHSAA guidelines. #1. Once a student steps into a high school hallway as a freshman, the clock begins ticking and he/she has 4 consecutive calendar years of high school eligibility. #2. Each student must be on the normal pace for academic progress at the proper rate relative to his/her peer class. Example - If a student fails his/her freshman year and must repeat it, that student is not eligible for KHSAA participation the next year and not until he/she gets back on pace along with the class of freshman he/she entered high school with.

Why does St. X play such a weak freshman football schedule? Floyd Central, Bryan Station, Central Hardin, etc

Coach Williams is now an Assistant Coach on Coach Cobb’s staff at Trinity. I hear he is doing well there and loving it.

There is absolutely no upside for Trinity or St. X to play CAL. They take an RPI hit. If they win, folks say “of course, 6A vs 3A”. If they win by a few, folks say “what’s wrong with T or X”. If they win by a lot, folks say “why are they even playing CAL”. If they lose, “the world is ending”.

Agree 100% about this schedule getting the Rocks “sharpened up” for the KHSAA District games and then post season. And when your F and JV squads also play the Moellers, Carmels and Cincy X’s of the world the way Trinity does, that is icing on the cake.
