NCAA Tourney Story Lines That Interest You

Featured Replies

1. UC's seed. RPI mid 50s but I think they will get a seed that is higher than that RPI might indicate.

2. Does X get in? Yikes.

3. What do you do with Murray? On one hand you have 30-1 and on the other you have a bad schedule. But you have 30-1. Interesting.

4. Where does Bama get seeded? RPI of 26. See #1 RPI vs Seed.

5. How many SEC teams get in? 4?

6. How many PAC 10? 1? 2?

7. How long before BGP lights up with complaints about UK's bracket?

As to #7, Cal did say the committee will have the LA Lakers in our bracket this year. :D

Can Murray prove it wasn't just a weak OVC and win a few games?

I think they win 1.

On #1 I agree. I think in terms of RPI alone, this UC resume might be the most interesting in history. Huge wins home and away, brutal loss to Presbyterian coupled with a massive amount of underachievement from the middle and weak part of the OOC. I'd love to hear this team discussed in the selection room.

#2 I think X finds a way to get in. Things have been a mess, but they have 3 guys that have been through the wars and will find a way back.

#3 Murray is either a 4 or 5 IMO. The 5-12 would have brackets going wild everywhere.

#5 I'll go 5 SEC

#6 The Pac 12 somehow gets 2.

#7 17 seconds after the bracket is announced.

Generous time frame. I was going to go with as fast as someone can type "WOW!" and hit "Post Quick Reply" to the closest thread to the cursor.

There's one real storyline I'm intrigued by: Whether everybody gets smart and abandons Michigan State after today's loss.

Oh, and how many people are as stupid as my buddy who claims he's going to take Louisville into the Elite 8 in his money bracket. Two of us, both Cardinal fans, have been unmerciful in our criticism.

7. How long before BGP lights up with complaints about UK's bracket?

It's already happening a week before the bracket has even been released.

I'm interested to see if Arizona gets in. Don't they have the longest current streak right now?

I'm really only interested in two story lines.

1. Will UK win #8 with a freshman led team?

2. Will I win my preseason bet?

1. I think Cincinnati will land somewhere between 7-10.

2. I don't believe Xavier gets in unless the win their tournament. Their numbers aren't great, they haven't played well since Christmas, and the stigma of the fight never really left them.

3. I think Murray will land around a 6 seed, splitting the difference. Their record says 2-seed, their RPI says 10-seed. I think the committee chooses the middle route - perhaps with a weak #3 seed in the same pod.

4. I'm not totally sold on Alabama making it, but if they do, could they possibly be in a 12-seed play-in game?

5. Kentucky, Florida, Vanderbilt are locks. Alabama and Mississippi State are possible, although I think both could use a couple wins in the conference tournament. Could someone knock of Kentucky and steal the bid?

6. The Pac-12 definitely gets their automatic bid. I think if California doesn't get the auto bid, they will get an at-large. Washington might could sneak in. Arizona's loss yesterday hurts. I still believe they'll snag three, but which three could be anyone's guess.

7. Lets say, 6:15 on Sunday evening. NCAA definitely will be out to get Cal/UK/BBN! :D

2. Will I win my preseason bet?

Aren't those basically the same question?

1) Anywhere from a 6-9 seed. I'm going 7.

2) Yes, but only because they make the A-10 finals.

3) 6 seed

4) Yes, Bama gets in...Probably a 10 seed.

5) I'm going with 6. I really think Tennessee jumps in. I think they beat Vandy again before falling in the finals to the Cats.

6) 2. Arizona losing to the Sun Devils yesterday cripples them. UDub/Oregon are vying for the 2nd spot opposite Cal.

7) Right before the brackets are announced.

From the things-change-alot-this-week category, Lunardi has UC as a 9.

Syracuse has the easiest road in the latest edition, but UK's is pretty easy as well IMO.

I'll bet they're an 8 or 9 w/ UK.

I'm paying primary attention to two storylines:

1) Because I'm a UK fan, the Cats will have the bulk of my attention. A lot (most?) prognosticators are naming them the prohibitive favorite. How will they play under that pressure? Will the poise we have seen most of the year from such a young team continue when they enter a one-and-done tournament?

2) Was North Carolina's dominance of Duke a sneak peek of things to come? Are they going to be the dominant force we imagined they would be preseason? I felt like they were the best team in the country before the season started & I imagine I'll pick them to win it all.
