I have not seen many girls games this year other than those that Highlands played in, but I was very impressed by the play today of both teams. Voskuhl was dominate in the first half and Moss took over when she needed to for Boone. If I was starting a team however, I would take Chandler Clark anyday/anytime on my team. Plays the game with such confidence and never appears to get rattled.

Great pic! I wish you had one of them as Sydney was going to the rim with a few seconds left in OT.

Anyone have any thoughts as to what NDA was trying to accomplish on the OOB play from the side with 9 seconds left and the game tied?

So just me on this one?

I could be wrong but I do not believe so, not even with Cottrell, believe she made it to the final 4.

So just me on this one?

Looked to me that ND attempted a double pick at the top of the key and either Jones or Hill deflected and then the other passed the ball to Sydney who was over half court, if you watched how Boone came out they put Moss on the other side of half court away from defending. It seemed like coach Fookes was confident her team would get the steal and then attacked with Moss past the half court line, now the take from there was how they would write it in Hollywood, behind back, fake left then cross over right to finish and get fouled. That was an incredible 7 seconds. Syndney Moss was a class act tonight and seems to be a young women with a lot of character and dignity.

I wish I could help you on that last NDA play Clyde, but I would have to see the tape. I think it was just great defense by Boone County, Jones got the interception, began to dribble up court and saw Moss 10 feet ahead of her and passed the ball. Moss dribbled it the rest of the way with a nice reverse just after catching the ball just short of half court, was pressured while dribbling up court the entire play, took it to the rim, made the go ahead layup and got fouled with 1.1 to go. It was a great play to get the steal by Jones and then a great play by Moss.

As you said Clyde, a wild last few seconds in overtime. I may be wrong but here is how I remember it. Tie game with maybe 14 seconds to go and Boone inbounding under the NDA basket with a chance to go down and shoot the winning basket. NDA puts pressure on the inbounds play, Boone turns it over and NDA calls timeout. Now 9 seconds to go and it is NDA inbounding under their own basket, they throw it in and then Boone intercepts the next pass leading to the play described above. So each team had the ball with a chance to win in the last few seconds of the game and each team was turned over by the other teams defense. It was a roller coaster ride of action and emotion.

I haven't seen or heard anything about this, but I wonder if Sydney Moss was feeling well on Sunday. She appeared totally gassed the entire second half. She was bent over with hands on knees just about any time there were free throws or a stoppage in play. She looked to be conserving energy on plays as well. A credit to her that she played through it and played so well. She is just a great athlete - obviously faster and a better leaper than any other player on the court. Maybe I am wrong but she looked like she was fighting her way through an illness or coming off an illness. If true, hopefully she is feeling better for the state tournament.

I was referring to the first pass. Why pass it to Olivia V in the dead corner and let Boone trap her? She had nowhere to go and no room to operate once she caught it.

I'm pretty sure that is correct. Cottrell couldn't bring the State title back to NKY, but she was able to big a Division II National Championship!

NINE Regional Championships for Nell Fookes. She now has almost 200 more wins than the all time boys leader Ken Shields. Quite a Story. No other boys or girls basketball coach in the 9th Region has ever won more than five. Congratulations.

She really is an incredible coach, whose had a great career. Very happy for her! I'm also very happy for two of the hardest working assistants and two of my really good friends, Katie Madden and Josh Haitz. Very happy they were able to be a part of this!

Congrats to BC on their Region Championship. Sounds like the two best teams battled this one out to the end.

Good Luck to BC at State.

I asked this same question in the second half. She was not her self at times.
