You have to be kidding me! This is a non issue. The coach came up w/ a gameplan and the girls on her team executed the majority of the plan to perfection. Had they shot the ball just a little better she would be lauded for her genious. Dean Smith came up w/ the four corners and was headed to the hall of fame for it and his teams' execution of it even when he wasn't winning championships.

In nearly every sport, and at the highest levels, teams use tactics to change the pace of the game to their teams favor. How is that different than this? Is a team that tries to score on fast breaks and presses on D full court to create turnovers and break aways circumventing the rules? Are the fans at such games being cheated for not seeing half court sets and all variety of zone defenses?

 

She tried to win the best way she knew how and it nearly worked. Fun to watch? No! Effective YES!

 

Hope the folks over on the football board don't find out that playing 'smashmouth football' and not slinging the ball all around is somehow cheating the game and the fans.

No, I think she went to St Joe in Cold Spring and couldn't decide between being a legacy at NCC or attending Brossart from their feeder. She opted for HHS.

Yep, WLW all over this debate and Lance McAlister sides with Coach R and the Birds for playing within the rules of the game and using the game plan and strategy to give them any chance to beat the Pandas. Lance also later laughed at the fact that someone had brought up that the "spirit of the game had been damaged", he called it "silly".

There were many callers on coversation and coming from a bunch of "no dog in this fight" they all sided with Highlands except some guy that sounded like UKfan. LOL.

Note the lack of support in the stands for both teams, maybe either the secret got out that Highlands was going to play stall ball or maybe the fans didnt want to waste their money to see another blowout.

As much as most on here have said its boring, in hindsight I can almost guarantee you that if ppl knew this is how this one was going to play out and get this much attention then they would have paid $10 bucks to see this.

 

One word has sort of summed up the theme of this game, INTRIGUING.

Agreed. For everyone who believes this game is going to ruin future girls' basketball attendance (and there's been a lot of that opinion the last 14 pages) look at the picture. Not exactly SRO. U can't break something that's already broken. I watched the Ryle/NDA showdown online 2 weeks ago and couldn't believe all the empty seats.

That's a shame. I really like the BOK. But I feel the "environment" is different than when we had it at Holmes, Ryle, and Conner. Plus add in the extra cost for patrons, I'm not sure it's the best arena for this tournament. I'll be attending the boys semis and finals, so we'll see.
