I don't understand. He is not getting a full ride from EKU and some on here what Ohio State to show him 'love' and give him a scholarship. Wow! There is a slight difference between the two schools. He should probably go where he's going to get some money.

I would like to see a college step up and offer a full ride. I know people think of me as a homer , but I've seen him play , he IS the real deal.

If he comes to State I hope he works his way into a full ride scholarship.

If not I hope he does get that chance at another place.

I sure would like to see the kid get a shot in a decent program. He was absolutely phenomenal to watch this past season. Working against him getting that D1 full ride is most likely his size, but in his favor are blazing speed with an ability to grab overdrive when already going flat-out, nice hands, and a very nice ability to go get the ball where it's at (see long TD grab against Elder if you don't know what I'm talking about).

My advise to Ozzie: go to the school that you/your parents can afford and feel most comfortable at, without regards to football. If you get a scholarship, that's just gravy. I still think too many kids choose a college based on sports. Then get hurt or decide college sports are not for them; don't like the school; eventually transfer or flunk out; and have to start over.

LN's advice is spot on. If Austin was 6'1" like Mr. Quick, there would be no discussion. He'd have multiple D-1 offers. I understand he''s working hard to get his weight up. Good luck Austin.

This kid is too good to be a preferred walk on at any college. All these PWO offers are colleges trying to get good talent without paying the price. Averaged almost 40 yards per catch his senior season ,I don't know if Randy Moss had those kind of stats in HS.

 

I would bet that Moss didn't have a Patrick Towles throwing to him either.

Great advice. When I graduated high school I had some interest from some small schools: Earlham, Wilmington, Capitol, etc., but none of them had the major I wanted (Industrial Tech), so I went to EKU and didn't play football. My buddy also had interest from those schools, also went to EKU, but wanted to play football so he transferred to Capitol and played for two years. He was a math major, so it was easy for him to find a good football/major match.

 

Bottom line, I have no regrets. I had so much fun in college I don't know how I ever would have had time for football!:lol:

Maybe he can be as successful in college as Derek Abney was at UK. Does he return kicks?

Big, big congrats to Austin for receiving a PWO spot with OSU! I wish him and his family the best in their decision about where Austin should attend college. I think LN's advice is probably the best that can be given on this matter.

Do walkons sign a letter of intent? I was curious on a timeframe for a decision.
