January 17, 201214 yr Who is the second best team in the Big East? Better yet, who do you feel like out of this group has the best chance of knocking off the Orange(men)? No team really scares you on the list besides UConn in my book. I see them losing 2 of those 4.
January 17, 201214 yr It was Dykes who said that. It is pure torture having to listen to him commentate though.... Violent cuts. He went all the way till the last 2 minutes of the game without saying that.
January 17, 201214 yr Maybe I'm mistaken, or maybe it's just the pace of their games due to the zone, but it doesn't seem to me that they rebound the ball all that well. A solid rebounding team that can get the pace of the game up could give them some problems I would think. :idunno: They aren't a great rebounding team because of the zone but only UConn can match their size 2-5. They are fine on the glass for the most part. The key to beating them is to keep turnovers at 10 or less and hit a high clip from three. They get 11 steals a game and turn those and long rebounds into quick baskets. Limit easy points and you have a shot late...
January 17, 201214 yr I'm with bugatti. Syracuse is certainly a strong team, but the Big East is not as strong as it has been in recent years. That is what makes this question possible more than anything. However, I don't think they'll do it. They have 11 games left, with 6 of them on the road. Notre Dame (11-8, 3-3) Cincinnati (14-4, 4-1) St. John's (8-9, 2-4) Louisville (14-5, 2-4) Rutgers (11-8, 3-3) UConn (14-3, 4-2) I believe one of these road games will get them before the season is done.
January 17, 201214 yr DeCourcy says this isn't the traditional Big East so maybe it's possible. The SU schedule is set up well. http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basketball/story/2012-01-17/syracuse-is-unbeaten-but-untested----and-the-big-east-wont-help
January 17, 201214 yr I agree but have to add that they are likely the most complete team I have seen in the conference over the last 6 or 7 years. An off night will get them at some point, but they have very few weak spots if any... Best team in the country? As of right now, I think they are.
January 17, 201214 yr Best team in the country? As of right now, I think they are.Right now I don't think there is any way to say someone else is as good or better...
January 17, 201214 yr History shows they will lose at some point. The odds are just against teams of running the table in a power conference. Was Indiana the last team to run the table in the regular season from a power conference? That was nearly 40 years ago. I think a better question, is this Syracuse team better than Syracuse from two seasons ago? They started at 18/19-0 if I remember.
January 17, 201214 yr Right now I don't think there is any way to say someone else is as good or better... While I don't necessarily disagree, an arguement can be made due to the cupcake schedule and never leaving New York....
January 17, 201214 yr Commented real early in the season that Cuse was the best in the nation...all I can say is somebody come and get some!!!! Would anybody really want to play them??

January 18, 201214 yr While I don't necessarily disagree, an arguement can be made due to the cupcake schedule and never leaving New York.... It would be a losing argument at this point, but that has never stopped you before...
