January 10, 201313 yr USC vs LSU next year. LSU will not be able to win a big game until the get rid of Kragthorp and get a new OC.
January 10, 201313 yr You do make a good point. Against Florida and ????? (I forget who the other was, could someone help out), OSU was simply outclassed. However, I look at Urban Meyer similar to how I look at Nick Saban, those two know how to recruit the best players and coach them to the highest levels. So, in this case, I don't look at OSU past to be indicative of their future. OSU could be very, very good in the upcoming years. LSU, I don't pay much attention to OSU recruiting, but is Meyer using his connections in Florida? It just seems the midwest is falling way behind in high school talent.

I've also heard that the midwest doesn't pay their assistants nearly as much as southern schools do. Don't know if this is true.
January 10, 201313 yr I think Ohio State will be in the hunt after a couple years with Meyer. I agree although Meyer may have the Buckeyes close next season. Another good class coming in with the talent that is already there and next season another years experience the Bucks could be in the hunt. I believe that SEC teams Alabama. LSU & UGA will all be very strong again next season. With Bama losing only nine seniors along with another top 2 or 3 rated class coming in I won't out three on a row. No doubt the SEC has the best shot at winning again next year. 2014 starts the four team semi fina/final format so then and after may be the time when someone else wins.
January 11, 201313 yr I figured it was a good time to bring this thread back up again. Obviously it is not the season that just finished. Between Alabama being as good and young as they are overall, the rising of Texas A&M, and more with other teams in the conference, I feel pretty confident in saying that a team outside of the SEC won't do it next season. If they'd let you bet SEC or some other school I'm pretty sure most would continue to pick SEC. Will be initeresting to see who stays and who goes at Alabama.
January 11, 201313 yr Maybe the new thread should read when will the BCS leave the State of Alabama... That's 4 straight for the State.

Not sure why you think the playoff is going to make it easier for a team outside the SEC to win. It will almost guarantee that 2 SEC teams make the playoff on opposite sides of the bracket forcing an OSU to win back to back games against SEC teams. Not sure the biggest OSU fan thinks that could happen.
January 19, 201313 yr They have one of the easiest roads to the championship but their last 2 appearances don't give them much hope of winning....overmatched. Tressel isn't at OSU anymore just an FYI.
January 26, 201313 yr Tressel isn't at OSU anymore just an FYI. Tressel went into the National Championship game in both '06 and '07 with the number 1 ranked team in the nation.
January 26, 201313 yr Tressel went into the National Championship game in both '06 and '07 with the number 1 ranked team in the nation. Somebody had to be ranked #1. Tress didn't catch on till the very end on the new game and what it took to be the SEC schools. Starting with Oregon and Arkansas he started to figure it out. Coach Meyer from day 1 knows.
February 9, 201313 yr I think Ohio State will win in the next few years. People forget how good he was in the SEC. How good his recruiting ties are in Florida. How 3 of his best four players were from out of SEC territory (Harvin, Spikes, Hernandez). How no one in the country recruits athleticism and speed better. If OSU doesn't win a championship it will not be because they can't match SEC athleticism.
February 12, 201313 yr The only way that I see it happening is if an SEC school isn't in the Championship game. As we've seen, it is darn near impossible to get a 1 loss SEC team out of one of the final slots, so for this next year it will take 2 undefeated teams. After that, the plus one comes in, and by that time OSU may have a chance to play with any SEC school. I hate to say that, but it is true.
