If I would have been the coach I would have ran to the official. SO yes it is his fault. He should see that or one of the guys on the bench. His fans did.

Statement from WKU AD Ross Bjork:

 

I have recommended to President Gary Ransdell that Ken McDonald no longer serve as our head men’s basketball coach and he has agreed and supports my decision. President Ransdell and I met with Coach McDonald this morning to inform him of the decision, and then we met with and informed the entire men’s basketball staff.

 

I also met with our student-athletes and discussed the reasons for our conclusion told them that we are committed to all of them as students and athletes here at WKU. We owe them the ‘great program’ they signed up for. All of our student-athletes are the number one priority for WKU Athletics.

Didn't he have some dalliances with cheerleaders and have to take a pay cut for it?

So for those of us who don't follow WKU, what is the story on this? Why was he let go?

Id like to see Bellarmine Coach Scott Davenport get a shot. Led them to the division

11 national title last year. He can out coach them all and has worked under both Denny Crum and Rick Pitino. He would probably stay a while also. Western always goes after hot assistants and if they are good they leave in two years and if they are bad they fire them.

This has been building, and building, and building for some time. I don't think the six guys did him in, but it of course didn't help matters.

 

I think the only reason he was allowed to coach at all this year is that they were afraid of losing players from the incoming recruiting class. Who knows if some will transfer now, but I doubt it. He lost the team and just couldn't dig out of the hole.

WOW! :eek: Can not believe that this could happen. The refs can go back a change a 3 to a 2 if it's proven the shooters foot was on the line by TV. Why can't they go back a count the players on the court? What's harder to believe is that Western's players on the court did not notice 6.

Yes it has. Word was he was getting fired after the Lousiville game. WKU played so well and they didn't fire him then. Knew it was just a matter of time.
