Bummage.

Well a few weeks ago RockPride was trying to talk about how much better UL had become and how they would blow UK out if they played again. I disagreed with him then, and after watching this game I disagree even more now. UL is a team that benefited and looked much better than they were by playing in the Big East. While UK could have looked better than what they really were too by playing in the big east. UL is definitely the better team this year, however the gap is still not that wide at all. Which it does have to do with this thread, because saying UL just didn't look like that good of a football team at all in this game. I feel like they were very fortunate to even have a chance there at the end. However it did make it a little more exciting though.

It took 3 posts for a stay-at-home UK fan to turn this into a UK thread. To do that, to make that kind of negative comment, after the effort tonight by Bridgewater, is just pathetic. Read Teddy Roosevelt's "The Man In The Arena," better to have tried and lost in the arena then to "know neither victory nor defeat."

Louisville got beaten on both sides of the line tonight and that is why they lost. However, the future is bright enough for me to wear shades.

Looked like UL lost their poise for a stretch there in the third quarter.

UL's defense didn't look that strong against a team that can really throw it and catch it. Have they faced anyone this year that possessed a solid passing attack?

Cards battled back and had a chance, but NCSt has been an opportunistic defense all year.

The future is bright for the Cards.

Lastly, Tony Stallings who works in the radio booth with Paul Rogers is awful. GT referenced this earlier this year, but tonight I got to listen for an extended period of time and he was bad. Paul Rogers, who I think is one of the best definitely has to carry him.

Everyone knew that pass defense was going to be the weak point in this defense from before the start of the season. Tonight, like every other night, a team capable of going over the top of it did just that. The secondary certainly improved, but NC State was ready on the occasions they -- quite literally -- slipped.

Louisville and NC State both had enough lapses to give the other team chances. NC State capitalized on them more often than Louisville. Louisville failing to convert some big plays into touchdowns in the first half ended up being the difference in the game.

Really entertaining season for the Cardinals. Definitely enjoyed the ride. Cardmageddon Week continues... onward to basketball and Georgetown.

Could not agree more. Stallings needs to go.

Well said, Hearsay.

I still can't figure out why Strong keep those time outs in his pocket while watching NCST run down the clock. You have to admire Bridgewater's toughness, but I question how long he can survive taking those kind of hits if they don't have some help on the OL coming next year.

Yeah you are right it only took three post, and it was very valid to mention too. Heard about in another thread how UL would destroy UK now, and how much better UL is since they beat UK. I talked about how them playing in the Big East is what made them look better than what they really are. Which using this game, it backs up my statement. So my comment was about UK, but still had everything to do with this game. And that is that UL didn't really look like that much improved team that we heard about. They look like the same team, a team who was helped out by playing in the Big East. I am not someone who gets all into the UL/UK debate. However when someone was going to make a statement like that, then when that teams shows that they haven't. It is going to be said and rightfully so.

There was only one senior on the line this year and both starting guards are freshmen. It was a very young line that had its ups and downs. We'll see if they get better during the offseason, but I'm optimistic about improvement at this point.

As it turned out though, UL had the ball on about the NC State 45 with over a minute to play and the 2 time-outs (even thoguh it might have been serendipitous).

Well, pooh. I'm still pleased with this season and now SUPER-excited for next season! Watch out, Cats...we're rising from the ashes!

Keep in mind, the team that lost this game last year, is playing in the Orange Bowl this year.

Got a text from a kid who dressed for the game and he said it was a great experience other than not being home for Christmas. Cam Newton talked to the team. Got to do some NASCAR stuff. Nice swag.
