I see on Southwestern's schedule they have an upcoming date with Riverside Christian.

 

A 10th Region mid-pack Deming team defeated RC 87-23. This doesn't bode well for RC.

 

I'm sure Southwestern did what they could do in a difficult situation.

Actually, SW has between 1200-1300 students.

Couldn't Red Bird, Buckhorn and the rest say no? Take a look at the Riverside schedule and tell me which teams should have told them no.

 

I'm asking why SW would say "yes." They knew they were going to kill this team. Were no other teams available to schedule? SW could have gotten more out of a practice than this game.

To make it worse, Riverside Christian dressed just 5 players and it was their second game of the day. They played Monticello earlier in the day. Their players had to be very tired.

 

Wright shouldn't have played this game, imo.

There's a slight difference between Buckhorn and Red Bird, and Southwestern. Red Bird has around 100 students, Buckhorn about 200. Southwestern probably has around 800. Plus, Red Bird and Buckhorn have always been on Riverside's schedule. I mean, they have to play someone.

 

But I have no idea why they would want to schedule Garrard County, Southwestern, Shelby Valley, Lawrence County, Letcher Central, Shelby County, and others. The man who ran Riverside Christian for around 30 years, the late Doran Hofstetler (he coached every sport, both girls and boys, and was principal) would have never over scheduled like this. It's not fair to the players. He always tried to play the smaller schools, which was easier back then before consolidation closed down many of them.

 

 

 

Lawrence went 0-28 last year. They play tonight in Louisa.

Give it a rest Clyde. The RC kids wanted to play. Their choice. The coaches and players met before the game and everyone involved was fine with it. Actually this was RC's second game of the day.. They played Monticello earlier and wanted to play more. None involved had a problem with it.. Neither should you..

To me this is COMPLETE LUNACY (def. 1: insanity 2: wild foolishness : extravagant folly 3: a foolish act.). Hell why not schedule UK & U of L on the same day next time. I understand you want to play better teams to improve and to show your team what they need to do to become a better team, but Judas H. Priest, you have to know your own teams limitations. However if the kids had no problem with the ROYAL BEATDOWN they were in for my hats off to them for giving it their best.

Isn't this the first year for Wright @ Southwestern? Maybe he had an obligation to participate in the game and couldn't do anything about it. Didn't check where the game was played but, maybe the administration at Riverside Christian thought this would be good gate revenue too! Regardless of who, what, when, or where, this is a bad situation !

I don't care if the RC kids wanted to play. Maybe the Covington Latin kids want to play Holmes. Does that mean Coach Booher should say yes even though it adds no value to his team?

^ And, as you quite well know, I couldn't give a flip what you "think"... Stick to your comic relief in P&R and leave the kids alone and let them play ball.. If you have a problem contact the coaches.

Riverside had 5 players 1 of them was probably is in the 5th Grade. Other 4 was decent size.

Listen there is no reason to beat an outmanned team like this. When a game get's to certain point be reasonable. 109-21, really c'mon, no excuse to do this to a five man team with two seniors, two eight graders, and 1 seventh grader.
