I should have looked at the article before throwing my opinion in too, Brian McClaren teaches a very feel good Christianity, people like him and Rob Bell twist the message of Christ in my opinion.

No. My point was don't pre-determine where a homosexual will spend eternity. I am saying it's a sin to act upon it for the wrong reasons. Much like BleedBlue stated (lust), only I think some homosexuals choose to be gay as a reaction from past/current events in their life, or attention.

 

Gotcha. Based on my experiences with gay people I think most are born that way however I can think of a few who chose to be gay for the reason(s) you stated. I have no problems with gay people at all. I do find the desire to have sex wih someone who is the same sex as you to be perverted which is why I think they(most) are born that way.

I don't think being "Gay" is wrong per say I think acting on the thoughts and desires is what's wrong. You can be attracted to the same sex and not act on it.

My thing with the bible is that it was written many years ago and I have always viewed it as a living document - like our constitution - that is not necessarily up for amending, but at least receptive to the ever changing world. That is why I believe the bible is vague in many ways.

If you are born that way, which I believe they are, it can not be a sin. I've known a few kids that have grown up to be gay men. It was obvious from a very young age that they were gay.

You may disagree with Brian McLaren but to suggest that he teaches a feel good Christianity is simply not true.

I'm not sure where I stand on this. I've grown up always believing it was, however I also am firmly of the belief that one does not choose to be a homosexual, that it is a genetic makeup. If that's the case, I have an extremely difficult time thinking God would intentionally create people genetically disposed to sinning. :idunno:
