Certianly in the new testament, I think a lot of the old testament laws on sexuality though were founded on the need of the Jewish people to procreate. If you look pretty much all of leviticus bans sexual activity that won't lead to procreation. Procreation was very important for a small group of people like the Hebrews.

Larry, when a gay man isn't thinking about or acting upon his desires, is he sinning at that time?

Sin happens when the action/thought goes against God, the gay person being Gay is a Sin. For a non gay if he/she is just sitting there in Yoga state and oh wait Dr. Albert Mohler says Yoga is a Sin, anyway if a person gay or straight is just not thinking or acting on their actions they are not Sinning.

 

Can you Sin if you are asleep, No, but the gay man is a Sinner where as he is not Sinning, great question and I'm tied into a big knot.

Why do I need a verse? Not everyone's beliefs center around the contradictions in the Bible, Larry.

 

If a man is gay, and is sitting at work in a meeting crunching numbers, in your eyes, he's sinning. How is that possible?

His over all lifestyle puts him the act of a Sinner. Its not Alabama Larry saying this but what? Maybe some Bible verse will help your debate. Its all that I use. Works for me. Contradictions, now I need some proof or is that a blind statement? When you debate an issue you need some fire power. And when you are debating issues whether a person spends eternal life in torment Luke 16:19. it might be important.

My thing with the bible is that it was written many years ago and I have always viewed it as a living document - like our constitution - that is not necessarily up for amending, but at least receptive to the ever changing world. That is why I believe the bible is vague in many ways.

Can you show us where its vague, and I'm referring to the New Testament? Because you are right in the Old. Leviticus alone is very vague.

Did Jesus say it was a sin or did Paul say it was a sin or did the letter writers think it was a sin?

Post #17, Jesus says it is, Paul is the writer of 13 letters and took the place of Jesus on earth. Letter writers are inspired 2nd Timothy 3:16

Very profound sir. Could it possible be then that some of what we take as Jesus teachings were cultural teachings, crafted from a very Paternalistic and Homophobic Culture? Homophobic may be strong in that they did not understand homosexuality in the way that we do.

I was pointing out the erroneous view that some have that the words of Jesus somehow carry more weight than, say, the New Testament letters. People have an idea that if Jesus didn't say it, it isn't as valid. Therefore, Paul & others are accused of being chauvinistic, homophobic, etc.

Well, he did create me!

All the Old testament Laws have been done away with, the law of Moses which you have shown us. We are under a new law of Jesus Christ, we (most of us) are not of the jewish nation, so this is a waste of time. Galatians is huge on this issue and so is Hebrews.

 

The 10 commandments 9 of them are listed in the New Testament. We don't use the Blood of Goats for forgiverness of Sins, we have Jesus. The Scape goat is no longer needed. The Old Testament is like a history book.
