I was trying to answer acemona's post about questioning the presence of a hetero gene. My answer is that the evidence of a hetero gene is the sexual and reproductive organs that we were born with. Yes--I do believe that the original intent for sex was for the purpose of reproduction. That DOES NOT follow that I am therefore AGAINST any sex or sexual activity that is not for the purpose of reproduction. Again that was your Logic 101/geometry proof.

I think that I now understand where you were going with your original post, but I think maybe you confuse genetics and anatomy. The possession of reproductive organs do not equate to a heterosexual gene...nor a homosexual gene. Personally, I'm not sure there is a gene either way, but I do believe that some people are gay not by choice.

 

It may not apply to how you personally feel, but I do indeed believe that those that feel that homosexuality is wrong because it cannot lead to procreation are hypocritical if they support the use of birth control or any form of sexual contact that could not result in a pregnancy (without being too graphic here). As I understand it, Catholic beliefs include homosexual sex as wrong, but also don't believe in believe in the use of birth control. I'm not sure where they stand on other sexual contact.

Someone else mentioned the Bible contradicting itself, I agreed with their premise. I never once have implied that it contradicts itself on the topic of homosexuality. I don't really care what it says on the topic. I don't form my beliefs based on what the Bible says or doesn't say. Fastbreak asked me for examples of where I felt the Bible contradicted itself, and I listed them. Why in the world you're trying to tie a completely different discussion into one about homosexuality is beyond me. I assume you have your reasons, but I can't grasp them.

You will have to forgive all of those that do not take the bible's position on homosexuality as gospel, so to speak. If you take a gay couple that are fully committed to the Lord and Savior, honor the Lord and Savior through all walks of life, do everything an ideal Christian should do, but live a non-adulterous life with a person of the same sex of whom they genuinely fell in love with at first sight, trying to come to grips as to why these people have booked a ticket to hell does not make a lot of sense. Granted, we are not supposed to make sense of everything God says to do, but if you cannot see the caring, love, and honoring that we are all asked to do through the Bible can all be negated by what many people feel is something you have no choice of being, it is a tough pill to swallow.

You hear countless stories of gay people wishing they did not have to live with the stigma of being gay or being born that way because of their status in society. I cannot imagine anyone choosing to be gay unless it is for an attention ploy. There are not that many people looking for that kind of attention.

Yes, I have evidence. I chose women. I could have chosen to like men but I chose not to. That 2 examples I can think of right off the top of my head.

That was not an analogy. Just an observation. I have seen younger people who have no idea what it means to be gay exhibit many characteristics not normally associated with heterosexuals. Does not mean they all are gay, just what I have non-scientifically observed.
