UC Announces Suspensions

Featured Replies

I think 6 games for Mbodj is on the low end for being reasonable, but still reasonable.

I assume Ellis is the Tazmanian Devil? Also reasonable for him.

Ridiculous for Gates. And very disappointing. I'll be curious to hear comments from Cronin on this, but hard to match this up with statements he made in his post-game presser. We went from "some guys might not even be on this team" to a very weak suspension for the biggest culprit.

Now XU's turn to screw it up......

We're talking about UC here. I will weigh in on X when or if any thing is done on their end.

XU has "gangstas" like UC has "thugs". Saying that "we're talking about UC here" is irrelevant.

You mean the A-10's turn. Xavier has indicated they won't do anything because the league will.

All part of the screw up......

That way they have someone else to blame.

Very generous suspensions IMO; I'm interested in seeing what happens to the Xavier players too. I believe that a few of them need suspension too.

Glad you see it that way. Hopefully The Big O, or Wyler intervene for what is right.

My opinion would be he never wear the jersey again.

An interesting side note...XU has 1 game before they go to Hawaii. You know those kids won't be staying home.

GT, based on your opinion or what you have heard, who at UC had the most input into the final decision? I find it hard to believe it would breakdown 33/33/33 between Cronin, AD, and President. The world's just not that perfect. An old law enforcement adage is to "follow the money." Doing so makes you think Cronin had the most to lose here financially, as a Gates-less season would pretty much guarantee an awful record and put his job at jeopardy.

For those of us very impressed with Cronin's press conference, the suspension of Gates simply doesn't mesh. Unless you are a huge UC fan (and even then), this action would make just about anyone write off UC.

I thought the Gates suspension should have been a few more games, but ultimately do you give him a longer punishment because what he did was caught on camera and because his punch landed? Ellis landed at least 2 punches and Mbodj had the stomp. All were deemed equal by the UC brass, and thus the suspensions were the same. Watch what happens in Norwood at 4:15 to see how you handle things as poorly as possible all the way around...

Mick was 3rd on the food chain in terms of deciding punishment...

Six games = one conference game. Back in time for Notre Dame on Jan. 4.

And that's what it's all about. What is the difference in Gates punch and Blount's. Both were sucker punches. Blount's target was at least looking at Blount. Chip Kelly was man enough to do the right thing.

Did he want stronger suspensions?

I totally agree with the bolded. Heck they might lose the 20 fans that show up at their games now...
