December 8, 201114 yr Potted Meat is awesome. Awesome I say! On crackers, on bread.. Awesome! You can impress your friends by taking a cookie cutter and cutting out super cute shapes in very fresh white bread, spreading them with the potted meat and displaying on an attractive platter. Yes, I am the Martha Stewart of potted meat.
December 8, 201114 yr Sardines in mustard on saltines. That was fishing staple with my Grandpa and still is with my Dad. Grandpa used to cook up a fantastic fried Spam sandwich, too.
December 8, 201114 yr What the crap is potted meat? Sounds as gross as goetta! :puke: No you didn't .... you didn't put goetta into this discussion. Goetta is good food and it is probably actually good for you - opposed to every other food mentioned in this thread.
December 8, 201114 yr My goodness! Look at the nutrition info on a can of potted meat! http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/nutrition-calories/food/armour/potted-meat-spread-3-oz/ The Surgeon General should require them to put a cardiologist's number on the side of the can.

December 8, 201114 yr Read the wiki page on potted meat. Warning ... if you really want to keep eating the stuff, don't read it. http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?228181-I-just-polished-off-a-can-of...&p=4228205#post4228205 I couldn't stop laughing as I read the ingredients. Mmmmmm, mmmmm .... give me some more beef tripe with a little mechanically separated chicken on the side. And if you really want to know what beef tripe is, here you go: Beef tripe is usually made from only the first three chambers of a cow's stomach: the rumen (blanket/flat/smooth tripe), the reticulum (honeycomb and pocket tripe), and the omasum (book/bible/leaf tripe). Abomasum (reed) tripe is seen much less frequently, owing to its glandular tissue content.
