December 9, 201114 yr Is Potted Meat a regional thing? I'm surprised that a lot of you haven't even heard of it. It's probably illegal in California, but otherwise nothing regional about it.
December 9, 201114 yr It's probably illegal in California, but otherwise nothing regional about it.I think it must be mostly a Southern thing. :idunno:
December 9, 201114 yr Used to eat them all of the time. They were great with Doritos. I owe my life to them, too. They caused the attack that persuaded me to changed my eating habits. That was almost six months and 70+ lbs ago. Haven't touched them since. I'll be more careful, lol. I think it must be mostly a Southern thing. I have to agree. December 9, 201114 yr I think it must be mostly a Southern thing. :idunno: Not sure about that. I grew up in Ohio eating potted meat and mayo sandwiches. On special occasions we would have fried SPAM or TREAT and mustard sandwiches.

December 9, 201114 yr 70 lbs in 6 months!! That is awesome! Is this a result of changes in your eating habits coupled with an exercise plan?Yup. It has not been all wine and roses, but well worth it. See this thread http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?218858-Fitness-goals&highlight=fitness. It has more details than you probably want. I need to update that, since I crossed the 70 threshold.
December 9, 201114 yr I'll be more careful, lol. My old man still loves him some Vienna sausages from time to time for lunch and snacks. We keep at least a case around for him, regular and hot 'n spicy. We keep Treet and potted meat for him, too. Give him a can of potted meat or Vienna sausages, a raw onion, and a pack of saltines and he is happier than a pig in mud. He's 84. He can eat whatever he wants. I used to eat the hot 'n spicy Vienna sausages with Triskets, dipping the waffers in the juice after the sausages were gone. That, Lays Jalapeno Kettle Chips, and my craving for a stick of pepperoni are the worst things to get over.

I still eat them ocassionally. Probably my favorite, cheap snack with crackers. I love slices of pepperoni, especially with a "glass" bottle of coke.
