I was in a car wreck back in the 97 doing over 90 mph hit a pole, was ejected out the passenger side window and landed in the street. I cracked my sternum cut my neck had to get over 50 stitches glass almost cut my jugular but I managed to watch out of the hospital 4 hours later.

I've had plenty of other "hurts" without the broken stuff. I once was trying to run down my LuckyDog and tripped over a tree root in a neighbors yard, causing an airborne flip, landing on the tree root and causing yet another plethora of bruises, the worst of which was on my thigh. That sucker swelled up crazy! And my whole leg was black, literally black for weeks.

As much as that hurt, and it most definitely did, the embarrassment of the incident was the worst....considering the aforementioned neighbors were standing on their front porch at the time.

 

Come to think of it...the broken toe incident and the broken nose incident were equally embarassing. My moments of gracelessness are never private endeavors, it seems. :lol:

Meniscus in left knee first hurt it squatting and a month, maybe two later it put me on my knees while bowling.

Yep. I was 18. It was my first car. A beautiful, restored Buick Skylark with a souped up engine that I bought from a guy who built hot rods. I used to drive that baby WAY too fast, and was doing so one rainy night on my way back to Louisville from Leitchfield. I hydroplaned near Stephensburg, went off the right side of the road, over corrected and went off the other side, flipping end over end before landing at the edge of a lake. I was really lucky. I wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and I got thrown into the back seat. When I was pulled out, I was able to see the car, and the driver's side roof was smashed all they way through the seat to the floor board. It took a change in the law to convince me that wearing a seatbelt was safer than not wearing one. :lol:

Besides the accident last year I had 2 ruptured disc in my lower back my senior year in high school. Had surgery right before Christmas. What broke my heart about it was that I had been accepted in the Air Force Academy. It put a end to all of those plans.

I wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and I got thrown into the back seat. When I was pulled out, I was able to see the car, and the driver's side roof was smashed all they way through the seat to the floor board.

Well, nothing I've experienced has been nearly as bad as most of you but, here's my list:

 

Broke all 10 of my toes at one time once, running barefoot and tripped on an uneven sidewalk.

Tripped over a crack in the sidewalk and fell on my face, broke my nose and broke my glasses, which caused the frames to pinch a chunk out of my forehead and 2 black eyes.

Fell off a bike and broke my collar bone.

Was in a car wreck and it flipped end over end which caused a fractured back.

Had a piece of bone chip off of the inside of my knee and jam in the joint requiring surgery to remove.

 

Of all the above, the most pain I remember was actually from the phyisical therapy after the knee surgery.

Don't know if this qualifies as "getting hurt" or not, but I once was on a weekend trip with my kids when they were about 8 and 9 and had to leave them with a night audit clerk at the hotel while I went to the hospital. Turns out I had a raging kidney infection and could have died. Go figure.

That sounds intense... Crazy that you were OK to leave the hospital same day.

Been sicker than injured really.

 

But, a couple years back and again about 4-5 months ago, I did something crazy to my back, and by noon that day my back was crooked from my hips up. By the end of the day, I could barely move, and after I laid down in bed, I was unable to move for 4-5 days without pretty much having to be moved by someone else. Both times, doctors gave me some high quality pain meds and within 4-5 days I was back to normal.

 

Worst pain I've ever felt for sure, but the best part of it is, now whenever I have even the slightest pain in my back, everyone around me freaks out. I try not to take advantage of it too much though.

 

Sounds similar to what has happened several times to my daughter. Something as inocuous as bending over to tie a shoe can result in her back "going crooked"; takes several days to straighten out and is very painful. She went through a series of spinal injections in an attempt to alleviate the problem; one of them wound up being delivered incorrectly, spinal fluid leaked resulting in "spinal migraine"; she had to have some sort of blood patch (I don't know the medical specifics) to correct the situation.

Yeah...I didn't either until it happened. The worst part was that it was the Saturday before Easter, and I was in the choir at church, and had to sing at the Easter Vigil Mass. I guess to teach me a lesson about wearing shoes when running outside, my mother decided I could still sing, and I'd still have to wear the dress shoes she'd spent hard-earned money on for the occasion. I think I cried through the whole Mass.
