I feel like I am thread jacking so I will try to get back on track. Did everyone come out healthy for Scott Co.? And does anyone have any idea which teams are home/visitor for the 6A finals?

I do think it has worked out well that the two undefeated 6A teams meet in the finals.

Congratulations to Scott and to Boone for a hard fought game and season. Taking nothing away from Boone, but I'm a little surprised. Scott being touted, by some, as the team that could knock off Trinity.

Hard fought game. Boone's defense was again very stout. SC got loose on its first drive of the game & a crazy couple plays before half. The difference in the game was SC's defense stopped BC on at least four 3rd & 2 or less opportunities. SC also blocked a punt & BC snapped a ball over the punter's head for a safety. Cannot give this Boone County team enough credit. Expectations from the "experts" were very low, but this team had a bunch of kids who had other ideas. The seniors on this Rebel team displayed incredible leadership on the field. Schwartz, Reynolds, Rodriguez, Hiles, Ganster, Thompson, Curry, Hymore, Vires, Howell, Mullins, Cain, Stuck, Sanchez... These kids are what High School football is all about. Things are looking up in Florence!

Scott County holds off Boone, sets up 6A matchup with Trinity

 

 

Scott County took a 7-0 lead on the opening drive of the game, capped by Josh Walls' 1-yard run.

Boone County's Cody Rodriguez scored with 42 seconds left — only the second score given up in the first quarter by Scott County all season. (The Cardinals now have outscored their foes 210-14 in the first.)

Walls, who finished with 92 yards on 15 carries, also had the big play on the game-opening drive, which covered 72 yards in nine plays. His 40-yard run around right end put the Cards on the Boone 15. He scored five plays later on third-and-goal.

Boone got the equalizer after a roughing-the-kicker penalty kept alive a seven-play, 61-yard drive.

Rodriguez later broke a 31-yard gain to his right side. Two more Rodriguez runs picked up 5 yards each, the latter ending in the end zone.

A Boone County punt put Scott on its 29 with 2:13 left in the half.

Three runs netted 11 yards. An incomplete pass with 28 seconds left made Lawler 0-for-6.

This was a battle of defenses; good old smash-mouth football. Both defenses were very impressive. Well fought battle!

I heard KHSAA is investigating Trinity for Tuition non compliance. Evidently, several kids r getting more reduced tuition than allowed. This happened a few years ago and lex Christian was fined and lex cath had to forfeit all wins. That would b a shame if T had to forfeit this entire season after winning it all.

Is there a more wasted talent than Boone QB Kameron Schwartz? Great arm. In the last two games where the offense struggled mightily in both games trying to jam the ball down the throat of tough Ds he threw a grand total of 11 passes. 11!

 

Boone wasted the best qb they have had in a while and it cost them a chance to play in the big game. The fact that the kid wasnt the starter last year tells me all I need to know.

I heard KHSAA is investigating Trinity for Tuition non compliance. Evidently, several kids r getting more reduced tuition than allowed. This happened a few years ago and lex Christian was fined and lex cath had to forfeit all wins. That would b a shame if T had to forfeit this entire season after winning it all.

 

Do you have any solid evidence for this? I would be curious to hear of it from someone closer to the KHSAA if it is indeed true.

I'm with you on what could have been with Schwartz at qb last year. No matter how good of a qb the Rebels have, their scheme will always seem to be a dominant run game and maybe a pass here and there. They may win some games with it, but never make it to the "BIG" dance, unless another Alexander/Farris type back with a huge line shows up.

Hell, I even heard that President Truman is still alive!
