I have yet to see anyone post an upside to keeping Joker. If the best we can say is that potential new coaches may be scared off because we got rid of Joker after 2 years, I say make sure you do not run the program into the ground with no real prospect for improvement and you will keep your job beyond 2 years.

As a coach I will vote no. I just don't think a coach can be properly evaluated in 2 years. Sure Phillips was on the staff but you never know. Laker Coker looked like a HOFer after two years and now look at him. He's a first time HC learning on the job, but its tough to get rid of someone after two years. Biggest down-side to getting rid of him is that I think it makes a tough job even harder to get a good coach.

 

But an offensive savant would have time. Put up points and people give you a pass for a little while longer IMO.

I'm not sure what I'd do if the decision were mine. I wouldn't worry about covincing someone to take the job. I think you could explain that there's a difference between a new coach who will overhaul the staff and bring in new guys, and Joker who was the coach-in-waiting. In theory, there shouldn't have been much of a transition because the guys there now are his players, the system didn't change, and the coaches are the same.

That is great and mostly overlooked point. Joker basically has replaced the entire staff. Steve Brown, Chuck Smith, and Randy Sanders are about the only holdovers.

Nothing screams top notch program like firing a coach after two seasons. Not very enticing to top tier coaches, either.

I hate to see what the tailgating numbers and the attendance will be next year if Joker isn't fired. The numbers were bad enough this season. The fans are in a bad mood.

I can't see Joker and the Wildcats being any better next year than this one....more likely they will have a worse record. Haven't a few of the key recruits de-committed? Also, I've heard the QB from Highlands is wavering on his decision.

Yes, the same guy that hired Gillispie. A 5 year old could've made the call with Calipari.

Barnhardt has done well, IMO. It would be absurd to even consider firing him.

I voted no but only because it was 27-2 and I felt sorry for the Joke, I mean Joker.
