I agree about the other games and comparing scores from common opponents. You can't really gauge how good a team matches up against another by how the played against common opponents. Look at BW barely beating Holmes. BW had 6 turnovers. Since the score was close, does that mean that Scott and SK would be close with BW since Holmes was close to those two other teams. Of course not. BW showed that by pummling SK by 4 TD's. This is the only one that matters for either team because its win or go home. It will be interesting to see the adjustments from both teams. I was at the first game and thought it was very competitive for 3 1/2 quaters. NCC scored a late one on a very good pass from Hightchew to seal the game. I think it will be very competitive again. I think it will be a close win for whoever wins. Cant wait

NCC was expected to beat and favored against everyone they played this year werent they? I could be wrong against BW, but since BW had so many people out I figured they were favored prior to playing

 

They were, and they lost. It happens. My last response in this discussion of big wins. Neither team has beaten a team that they shouldn't have. That makes no difference at this point, since these two teams have already played. It's only a point of discussion when teams are facing each other for the first time.

I've heard that in '06, '07, '08 and '09,,,,,what is different about this team?

Cooper won the 5A district up here. They cant be too bad. They beat NCC in their scrimmage at the beginning of the year. Does that matter? Of course not. BW beating HC this year, does that matter? Of course not. NCC letting less points be scored on their backups that HC's backups in the district, does that matter? Of course not. Most of these points people are tyring to make doesn't matter. This is the postseason. What matters isPp this week.

NCC beat Dixie, who was suppose to be soooooo good, without Pike(which was the main reason people thought they would be good). I guess, looking at NCC's schedule, their signature win was HC? Im sure they wouldn't say that, but who would it be? Most of the teams on their schedule have a losing record. I would like to know who NCC fans think was their big win, since HC didn't beat anyone but the Sisters of the Poor

Easy, IMO this is the best balanced HC team ever. And I say that knowing my son played on the teams during the time period you mention. Each year there have been obvious improvements in the program which has shown up on the field and in the record book. In 2008 and 2009, HC could not get over the DeSales hurdle in the 2nd round of the playoffs. In 2010, they did, but lost to NCC in the regional. In 2011, HC finds itself knocking on the door again. Small steps.

Not on the film I saw, but the point I was trying to make was who cares. That game/scrimmage doesn't matter. Neither does any other game than this week. You missed the point

Newport Catholic 28-21.

NCC isn't playing Dixie in week 12 but did in week 0. Big difference in now and then for that team.

 

You must have been the only person in NKy that knew Dixie was going to implode this season, as most, even the NKy Coaches thought Dixie was going to be a tough out this season!

They played without Pike......and rankings mean nothing.....NC is good but dont say Dixie is good they got 50 plus hung on them at least 4 times this yr.

Your best balanced team already got beat by 17 less than a month ago. Are you telling me that your players and coaching have erased those 17 points by playing Holmes, Carroll County and Owen County?

Well, using your logic, I guess we should go ahead and crown NCC 2A champs since there is no way that NCC can be beaten. That is why we play the game. I guess we will see this Friday. Underdogs are capable of winning. BW beat NCC the last 2yrs and were underdogs in both games. Do you think that NCC would think they would get beaten again in either season, especially last year, if they were to play BW 2 times in a season? Of course not. They always think they are gonna win. Why should HC go into this game and assume there is nothing they can do to win? They are gonna play hard and give it their best shot, thinking they have a chance to win. Im not saying that HC will win. I hope they do, but HC isn't gonna go in and think is is pointless because the outcome is already decided.

Well you are of course are incorrect as is gch_uk9 some what....... NCC has not been playing football for 60 plus years. Now if you want to include Newport Catholic numbers in that (and I know a lot of NewCath grads who weren't happy about the name change) then yes they have!

I would be one, I will not say or wear anything NCC. It's NewCath or Newport Catholic, or nothing at all. My wife (a Highlands grad) loves to tease me about this. I'll tell you how bad the name change was, my JR year (82/83) a year before the "ladies" invaded our space, a certian individual would run over the sign at the bottom of the hill that said "Construction on the new Newport Central Catholic High School". After numerous repairs to it the sign never went back up.
