Not many teams have the pieces the Lakers do. I'd say Howard will for sure be a Laker. Paul may not, but the Lakers have a lot more to offer than the Knicks.

Lakers need Howard. Don't need Paul but he would be a welcome addition. I am fine if they give up Gasol, Bynum, Odom or Artest and at least get Howard.

If I'm the Lakers I gladly send Gasol and Bynum out the door for Howard, even if it means having to take Turkoglu or Arenas' contract in return. May not be a bad thing for them to get Arena's really, I mean he's not what he used to be but it would most certainly upgrade the PG position. Arenas, Kobe, Artest, Odom, and Howard is a pretty solid five. Now looking back I wonder if they wished they would have kept Ariza instead of Artest. Laker's aren't getting any younger and thats one thing they are trying to do in a bad way.

I'd say that's definitely the best they'll be able to get for Howard. I agree.

Further proof that if anyone could be said to have "lost," it would be the players. It's being reported that at least seven teams will have stretches in this year's shortened schedule where they will play 5 games in 6 days. For each of those teams, they'll do it TWICE this year.

Hearing Hornets want a lot of other pieces than just Gasol. Preferably young talented pieces, something LA doesn't have. Unless they can find a third team or unless they throw Bynum in as well I cannot see the Hornets doing it for Gasol alone. They are going to get the most they can for Paul and that is going to help them going forward (mainly high 1st rounders and good young prospects). He has already told them he would not resign so look for them to be like the Jazz and sale to highest bidder, which could be the Clippers who could offer a good enough package to make it work. Thing with Paul is he wants to be in New York so bad that with most teams he will not agree before a trade on signing an extension so it will take a team that is confident enough of retaining him to make it work. If the Lakers are the only option on the table in regards of dealing partners when the dust settles that will be the only way Hornets do a deal for Pau. IMO.
