In order to use this option it has to be for a player already on a teams roster as of July 2011. I guess they already figured out there would be some teams who try to do what you say. Guess they figured they would just cover past mistakes instead of allowing them a pass on future mistakes.

I love the amnesty idea simply because it makes for great discussion and speculation.

Not many teams have the pieces the Lakers do. I'd say Howard will for sure be a Laker. Paul may not, but the Lakers have a lot more to offer than the Knicks.
