Rick Wood @ Glasgow is another one. He took over a Glasgow team that finished 0-11 in 2008, and in his 3rd year on the job they are 10-0.

If I had a vote it would go to Andy Stephens at Pulaski Southwestern, taking over in the midst of the resignation of Dale Anderson and bringing the team to competing like they have, I would say he has done a great job. Alot of good coaching jobs this year. Beatty, Tracey, Fowler, Haywood, even Warner at Ryle and what he has accomplished after losing Elliott and all the injuries has done a good job taking the team to the #2 seed in the playoffs. But the other big vote would have to go to Jim Mckee, team has impressed on Offense and defense.

Definitely Coach Fowler of Owen County...He has accomplished things with that program that has never been accomplished in school history. Owen County haven't had a winning season since who knows when. He gets the most out of his players and that is what it takes to be a good coach and have a successful program. He gets my vote!

Let me vote for Adam Fowler from Owen Co. His team was 3-8 last year and finished the regular season undefeated this year.

I agree to a point, but Trinity's schedule was sick. Not saying Tracy doesn't deserve it, but what Trinity is doing for KY high school football right now is great! TO have the best team high school team in the country is awesome!

You can't be serious. Any moron can coach a team that's bought and paid for. A complete embarrassment to the khsaa and everyone that does things the right way.

But, with the schedule they've played, the way they've beaten the teams on their schedule, and the way the team has seemingly maintained a steady focus all year, I'm not sure how even the T haters couldn't agree this is a year the guy at the power school deserves the honor.

Mueller? I dont think anyone is shocked with his teams success this year. How about Dave Wirth and his fine staff at CovCath. He has developed his program over the last three years along with his players to be in a position to challenge the "mighty bluebirds" and their quest for another state championship. l think we need the season to play out a few more weeks before we know the answer.

What's so hands down about it? Beatty is not the only coach that is undefeated and has won games in style. I agree that Beatty should be in considered (and obviously does a phenomenal job year in and year out, one that indeed not many (any?) others could do) but it is not as simple as that for me.

Lotsa worthy candidates - Mark Scenters @ Garrard County has gotta be in the mix.

Who is the coach at Edmonson County?

Kyle Pierce. He has Edmonson Co 10-0 and has done a great job (and has for several years) with very limited resources.

Even though many think that winning with Trinity is easy, I'd like to throw out some points for consideration for Coach Beatty this year:

 

1) Schedule-Despite the obvious talent on this Trinity team, when the schedule was released, with all it's out of state match ups and OOS powers listed, no one predicted a sweep of OOS teams. In fact, many (if not most) of us considered the very real possibility that we could be 0-5 to begin the Kentucky games.

2) Focus-Trinity pretty much has an above-average team in most years. What is the variable each year is the team-focus and total committment. This year, Coach Beatty has somehow been able to keep his team focused and driving forward furiously. With the talent on the team, I'd argue that it's a difficult task to have the players stay that focused win after win. In fact, after the Cincy X game, I remember him being quoted in the C-J that the score reflected the lack of focus in the week's practice. They were able to pull out the win in that game, but his point must have been well received.

3) Coaching-Frankly, I have hated the tight first halves this season. :lol: They always come out with new energy and focus in the 2nd half and pull away tremendously. But the half-time coaching adjustments seem much more obvious this season than in seasons past, IMO.

 

None of the above mean that I think that he's automatically the Coach of the Year for 2011. I just wanted to throw out some points of consideration. This has to be a tough pick every year, with the number of football-playing schools in Kentucky. Many coaches have incredible success with much less talent and resources than Trinity. But, sometimes more talent doesn't equate to more success. I cannot legitimately argue against any of the others posted here so far. All are definitely worthy of consideration. And even if Coach Beatty isn't the COY in 2011, he's still tops in the Rock book!
