I love reading in this thread about the programs that have really turned around, the coaches who helped make that happen, the change in "football culture" at those schools and the community excitement being experienced (one of the coolest things I've experienced around high school football was watching the Allen County-Scottsville fans at last year's state game).

 

I don't want to start another thread on the number of classes we should have in Ky, but I wonder if some (many?) of these rather dramatic turn arounds would have occurred if we still had 4 classes.

 

Congrats to the coaches, players and fans associated with the programs who have went from rags to riches. Well done.

 

 

That is my point leather, I don't want to diminish anyones accomplishments and it isn't easy at any school irregardless of the resources. But for a coach to go into some of these traditional also rans and turn a program around and even go undefeated is a tremendous feat.

You can't be serious. Any moron can coach a team that's bought and paid for. A complete embarrassment to the khsaa and everyone that does things the right way.

Probably deserved it for the miraculous turn-around he orchestrated last season in a "down year" to lead Belfry to the 3A Finals. Set the all-time wins record, also finished 9-1 in a "bridge season" where most expected Belfry to finish either 6-4 or 7-3 at best with what is still a rather young football team.

This may concern Sandman but once again we are in complete agreement.

 

You can't play this level of competition and have the success they've had and not win COY.

 

What did the final record of Trinity's opponents end up being?

If you trully look at Trinitys schedule, its not near as strong as most would have thought going into the season.. MBA is 5-5 and 3 losses of more than 40 points.. Elder ended 2-8 and didn't make the playoffs.. Mohler lost there last 3 games of the year.. Cincy St X had 3 losses with 1 to Louisville St X.. Male may have it's weakest team in a long, long time and ended with a losing record.. St X is not the St X of the past few years.. Brendwood Academy and Indy Cath most likely were there best wins and even they had 5 losses between them.. I am, in no way saying they didn't play a stout schedule, because most of the teams they did play are traditional powerhouses.. I'm just saying some of those teams aren't what they normally are and are having subpar years in comparison to what they normally have..

As for those losses that the Cincy teams have incurred, 3 of them were to Trinity and 3 were to each other (Moeller, CincyX & Elder). When you say Brentwood and Indy Cath had 5 losses between them, remember that 2 were to Trinity. One reason that OH teams had subpar years was that they got beaten by T! I think you would hard pressed to find any team who has gone undefeated and half of their opponents ended their seasons with just one loss? I have no problem with arguing someone other than Beatty for coach of the year, but anyone who didn't look at this schedule at the beginning of the season and think it was the most aggressive any Kentucky has put together in a long time has got to be kidding. If you are looking for a reason to throw stones at T by saying, "Well, their schedule wasn't really that tough", to me that is comical.

Leslie County 10-35 last 4 years and no Dist. Chamoionships. This year 8-2 and Dist. Champs. Eddie Melton needs a look.

I would think you have to give Beatty a very hard look, he went into the year with the toughest schedule in the state and has come out undefeated. I agree there are several considerations but Beattty has to be at the top.
