To answer the thread question, no, his foreign policy, if he has one, will not get him re-elected. This is going to boil down to the economy, nothing more. If unemployment doesn't come down he's going to find it tough to beat Romney, who I assume will be the nominee for the Republicans. If unemployment does come down, he's re-elected.

Can you clarify the bolded? You voted for him because he created "the mess" and he should/would fix it?

As to the original topic, I have often said on here & will continue to say that Obama has done very well in the foreign policy area IMO. He's far surpassed what I expected from him in that regard. I give him two thumbs up for that.

 

As to everything else...well...not so much. But to answer your question, I don't think anyone can definitively say, "Such-and-such candidate would for sure be better than Obama." Just like people were stupid to say, "Obama will do better than Bush." It's all about opinion. No one can accurately forecast the future.

 

The way I think it should be viewed is: Obama has had his chance. He's nearly 75% completed with his first term, has spent money like never before, & unemployment is 2% worse now than it was when he took office. Consumer confidence continues to wane, the deficit is at astronomical numbers & nearly 6 out of every 10 Americans disapprove of how the President is handling his duties in the White House.

 

But, he has four things going for him:

 

1) The Republican field stinks. The GOP spent all summer/early fall looking for the non-Romney. We're going to end up with Romney as our nominee.

 

2) Money. Like GWB before him, Obama has no primary competition & can stockpile cash for the general election.

 

3) Incumbency. Always tough to unseat a sitting President.

 

4) Charisma/Style. I've said it a hundred times...America votes for style every time when it comes to Presidential elections. Nobody beats Obama in this regard.

 

So I again say that Obama will get re-elected. But to say that he's done well in any area other than foreign policy is comical IMO.

I have said consistently that Obama is a one timer....his time has come and gone. I give him credit for getting Osama Bin Laden and that is about it. I am not so sure getting rid of the Libyan leader will prove to be a good move.

 

I also believe any Republican nominee will defeat Obama. Obama will have to stand on his own economic record this time, and that is not a pretty sight. When the time comes next November, the energy will be behind the Republican nominee this time and Obama will be washed away. In the end people vote on their own pocketbook, not whether or not so and so is in power in the Middle East. It is easy to defeat an incumbent that has done a poor job...see Jimmy Carter, George H. W. Bush.

Know it all, if you really know it all you know that while the unemployment rate was lower when President Obama took office we were losing 750,000 jobs per month and the economy was shrinking at a rate that hadn't been seen since the Great Depression. President Obama's economic policies arrested the fall and have lead to slow growth. A vast improvement. If you know it all, you know that the Health Care bill isn't socialist. The VA and public health service are socialist. Medicare is left of center. The health care bill is quite centrist in that it is based on PRIVATE insurance.

And there you have it. You support Ron Paul and I don't and never will. That is why we live in the greatest country ever. The people can choose who they want.

You're talking to the wrong cat on that one. I couldn't tell you a thing about any policy by any president. I just go by the same thing a majority of people go by.....if it happened on your watch then it is your fault.
