I've just replayed the video about a dozen times , pausing and playing pausing and playing . The hit wasn't late nor was it dirty . It was a bang bang play and hits like this happen on practically every tackle during a high school football game football game . It's unfortunate but they happen .

ok I finally saw the video on the game thread. The hit was not dirty, it was not really late, it was a blow to the head, but not intentional. IMO NOt sure if that should have been a penalty therefore, inconclusive evidence to overturn the 'lack of call' on the field. I just hope Towles is fine for next week.

msdjsim used the word dirty which is irrelevant. Intent is not an element in a high school football rule infraction occuring on the field. How many kids that jump off sides mean to jump off sides? Probably none, nevertheless it's a penalty. You left out the word "back." It was a blow to the back of the head.

 

Msdjsim if we adopt your understanding of the play then head to head blows to the back of a player's head are permitted as long as they're not dirty.

Are you the same Cardinals fan that was crying because you had 5 starters that were done for the season due to injury ? If that's the case you should man up also !! Were any of the injuries to those players cheap shots ?

 

I forgot to mention that the Elder announcers were talking and laughing about the #3 seed being in the weakest conference in Ohio , yea , they were talking about Colerain ! Welcom to the GCL , honey ? Colerain isn't in the GCL.

How come it's not mentioned that the kid led with his head when he clearly did? Any of us who played before knows the feeling of throwing your hard shell/protected head in there to see what happens.

We have to excuse CF on this one. Considering the time of this post,The only Honey I see here is American Honey or better yet a paper wrapped 40.This thread is associated with an injury to a player not how one of the biggest public schools in the State of Ohio is annually humiliated by the GCL.

I thought it was a clean hit. Towles was rolling over another player and wasn't quite down, or was simultaneously down when he was hit. Sometimes injuries just happen and this is a classic example of that. I don't see why everyone is in such an uproar. It just happened, no big deal, Towles will probably be back next week.

I agree. The only thing everybody agrees on is that everybody doesn't agree on anything. As long as Towles is ok this discussion should end. I don't think anything new can be said on the subject anyway.

We've only lost two for the year, many others dinged up here and there. Just to set the record straight.

 

Colerain isn't in the GCL, you are correct. However, we are the only team in the nation that has a winning record against that conference and man's up to play them every single year despite the inherent disadvantages we face.

Big Bad GCL teams are rough, blah, blah, blah... Our house, we play tough... Blah, blah, blah. What planet are you from? Helmet to helmet hits should be penalized. Period.

 

Watch the video and you'll understand why Bpiccolo and others are bringing this to the forefront.

And yet there are a half-dozen people that, AFTER WATCHING THE VIDEO, realize that it was neither cheap, late or intentional.

 

The difference is that I, as usual, was the first one to come out and call it correctly.

 

Sincerely, a speedy recovery for Mr. Towles. No Senior's season should end because of an injury. Looking forward to watching Highlands drive for #21.

Arrogance like this is why I love living in KY. Not enough money in the world to live on the North side of the River. This goes right along with some other posters on Yappi. You guys make it a point that it is taught to "hurt" a player intentionally. That is just crazy talk. On the bolded part, I guess since you are in their house, it makes it alright. WOW!!! CF, in your post you publicly made light of a kid sustaining a concussion. Whether the hit was late or not, or dirty or not is beside the point... the kid sustained a head injury and you're talking about Highlands' "precious Bluebird getting dinged up".

 

And yes, that makes you a lump in my book, and I suppose the mods can do whatever they like with this comment or with my BGP account.
