October 18, 201114 yr The NFL is all about bottom-line results. MB won this one. Pretty much.... Oakland WRs are currently be picked up by every fantasy team in reach of a computer.
October 18, 201114 yr For those saying smart move by Brown, I say Brown feel backwards into dog crap and came out smelling like a rose. He has handled this terribly and got lucky that the Raiders stupid moves didn't die with Davis. Palmer isn't worth 1 first rounder much less possibly 2. No chance any other team in the league gives that up for him except maybe the Bengals. I believe trading their first round pick next year basically eliminates the Raiders from draft day 2012. The NFL is all about bottom-line results. MB won this one. Yep. Brown got really lucky, but it worked out great. I never thought CP's value would improve this year but Oak being 4-2 and their QB going down did it.
October 18, 201114 yr So... If the going rate for a player of Carson's caliber at this point in his career is 2 1sts, I don't feel as bad about giving a 3rd for Whitehurst. That's my silver lining. Argue my point if you want to, I'm not listening anymore.

October 18, 201114 yr Matt Berry has lost his mind: @MatthewBerryTMR: Never been a huge Palmer fan, but he'll be a decent fantasy QB for deeper lgs, 2 QB lgs etc. Helps DHB, Ford, Moore, DMC, etc. Good move, Oak "Good move, Oak"?!?!?! What planet is he on? It can be argued it's a good move for Oakland. I'm not as down on CP as many are. The Raiders FINALLY have a decent season going in a division that isn't strong so they can compete for a playoff spot. We always say you take the shot when you have it and Oakland has it. They're going for it.
October 18, 201114 yr Never said he didn't win. I realize that. My point is that you take chances. Sometimes they blow up in your face and sometimes you get lucky with one single change of events. The strategy can be debated. The results cannot.
October 18, 201114 yr It's a good move for Oakland too....Palmer has to be adequate to allow Oakland to succeed. He has two weeks to learn the playbook. He'll be decent, but nothing spectacular. Run DMC will still be the one doing the heavy lifting on offense. They have a weak schedule and a solid defense. Good move for Oakland, great move by the Bengals!
October 18, 201114 yr Raiders only have 5th and 6th round picks next year. And the Bengals have a ton of flexibility to move around in the draft next year. 2 first rounders plus whatever they got for Chad. Glad to see MB did the right thing.

October 18, 201114 yr It's two first rounders: A couple thoughts. 1. Brown being stubborn paid off huge. Oakland having a QB hurt and being 4-2 was best case scenario ever. And Brown got to see Dalton for 6 weeks. Even if it was because of pure luck this is his best move ever. It's even better that he won't have to pay the two draft picks as much because of the new rookie wage structure. 2. Palmer is still considered good by people in the league if he's fetching 2 1st rounders. I don't care who made the trade. I don't think he's as good as I did 18 months ago, but he is still better than a lot of guys that start. Hopefully this trade works out well for both sides. No hope the "Raiders" lose every game the rest of the year so that 2012 becomes a high 1st round pick.
