Best All-Time Basketball Players by school in the SEC

Had to do some research on Vandy.

Clyde Lee is the choice. Most PPG and most boards playing in only 3 seasons.

Gerald "World Class" Glass from Ole Miss.

Had to do some research on Vandy.

I saw that myself, but had never heard of him, so didn't post it. Whoever said Will Perdue, though, was a pretty good guess. Would you say Shan Foster would be #2? Or maybe McCaffery?

Best I could come up with without really having to sit down and think about it. He did play for the Bulls and win a Championship.

It's actually a pretty good choice IMO. Maybe not the best, but I would think top five for sure.

Alabama: Leon Douglas

Arkansas: Sidney Moncrief

Auburn: Charles Barkley

LSU: Pete Maravich

Ole Miss: Johnny Newman (Played in the early '70's, averaged over 40 ppg)

Mississippi State: Dampier. Miss St also had some great players in the late 1950's early '60's when they won several SEC titles.

Georgia: Dominique Wilkins

South Carolina: Since they've been in the SEC probably the little guard from a couple of years ago. They had some good ones in their ACC days.

Florida: Joaquin Noah

Tennessee: Bernard King

Kentucky: Dan Issel. All American. Leads UK in PPG average. All Pro, made several All star games. If Casey doesn't break leg could have been champs in 1970. Forced out of the NCAA Tourney vs Jacksonville by one of the worse calls in NCAA history imo, which fouled Issel out of the game.

Vanderbilt: Clyde Lee

Alabama.... Leon Douglas

Arkansas.... Sidney Moncrief

Auburn.... Chuck Person

LSU.... Pete Maravich

Ole Miss... John Stroud

Miss. St.... Bailey Howell

So. Carolina.... Alex English

Georgia.... Dominique Wilkins

Florida.... Vernon Maxwell

Tennessee.... Bernard King

Kentucky.... Dan Issel

Vanderbilt..... Clyde Lee

Devon Downey?

I'll go Phil Cox

I held him to 46 in high school. We did win !

This one is pretty close. I'd probably go with Barkley for Auburn. Johnny Neumann might be a 1A for Ole Miss. Even though he only played one year.

It was a tie to me between Person and Barkley. I felt that Person was the better scorer in those days and had range. Barkley rose to the occasion in big games but Person was more consistent in my memory.

Neumann should be under consideration but I went with Stroud because he was always tough and played all four years for the Rebels.

The Professor and Hatz have it nailed pretty close. If it weren't for Pistol Pete, how about Bob Petit at LSU?

LSU and Vandy (best tandem): Ross Neltner?

You beat a good team then...they had some good ball players while Phil was at Cawood. They should have won 2 regional titles while he was there. One was flat out taken. Phil was Vandy's all time leading scorer for some time and I think 3 time All SEC. Really good ball player.

I'll post mine without research - just off the top of my head AND from my viewing days. I'm 38, by the way.

Arkansas - Todd Day

Auburn - Barkley

Alabama - D. McKie

LSU - Chris Jackson

Ole Miss - Glass

Miss St. - Varnado

UT - Houston

Vandy - Phil Cox

Florida - Mike Miller

South Carolina - BJ McKie

Georgia - Wilkins

UK - Mashburn

Petit would not be wrong on a list.

Neither would O'Neil but you have to admit that being coached by Dale Brown probably hindered him in college.

We played them in The Bell County tournament. There Coach had a heart attack at half time and passed away.
