Just been informed of some unconfirmed circumstances coming out of The Westside of Cinti. If true then this game really is shaping up to be an Ohio St vs Everybody game. WOW!!!!!

Based on what is circulating, I have no choice but to retract my earlier statements and now say all the pressure is on the Birds.

C'mon boys, dont get caught in the trap, go to Elder and take care of business the Highlands way.........

Besides, I will have to see for myself Friday nite whether the other team is at full strength or not. Could just be a Panther or two layin in the weeds waiting to pounce on a little Birdie. LOL.

Highlands invades the most celebrated high school football stadium in Greater Cincinnati against a team rich in tradition with the largest and most loyal fan base as well. Highlands' biggest win across the river was over Trotwood Madison and their most recent was over Withrow (two in a row). Playing in Ohio vs Elder, Moeller and Colerain however, has been tough going for some quite talented HHS teams. The parallels between this Elder squad and the fine CovCath team are evident. HHS has the opportunity to implement defensive adjustments necessary to slow down a relentless grind-it-out ground attack. Expect a margin of victory greater than one TD by The Team From Kentucky.

Big difference between then and now !! Back then they didn't platoon like they do today !

C'mon Sweep , drink some cool-aid and stick to your guns !!! LOL !!!

It doesn't matter who is playing for the purple Panthers , we both know that Dale and company will be up to the challenge !!! Go Birds !!!

Nice article. But doesnt Withrow and Trotwood Madison count as Ohio teams.......LOL
Since 2007, Highlands is 4-1 against Ohio competition; HHS has defeated Trotwood-Madison (2007), Cincinnati Withrow twice (once in 2009 and once in 2010) and Cincinnati Saint Xavier (2009), while losing to Cincinnati Colerain (2008).

Highlands did not fare so well against Ohio competition in the immediate years prior to 2007. In 2006 HHS was 0-2. In 2005 HHS was 0-2. In 2004 HHS was 0-1. In 2003, 2002 and 2001 HHS did not play any Ohio teams. In 2000 HHS was 0-1. In 1999 HHS was 0-1 against Ohio teams (HHS did go 1-0 vs. Indiana teams that year). In 1998 HHS did not play any Ohio teams. In 1997 HHS was 0-1. HHS did not play any Ohio teams in 1996 or 1995. In 1994 HHS was 0-1 (this was Dale Mueller's first year as coach at HHS). In 1993 HHS was 0-1. Believe it or not, but HHS did not play any Ohio teams (or any teams outside of KY, for that matter) from 1970 through 1992 (HHS went 1-0 against Ohio competition in 1969, beating Western Hills that year).

As one can see, it has been a rocky road for HHS against Ohio competition over the past two decades, but things are on the upswing!

Elder has had approximately ten players suspended for the rest of the season.

^ Where did you hear this? Any idea on whether some of these players are key contributors for Elder?

Great atmosphere for High School Football .This game will be decided by the biggest line in the GCL if not Ohio come third and fourth quarters.

Supposedly a few are starters.

Could this be a disinformation campaign on the part of some crafty Elder faithful?

Sure it could. I doubt it but always possible.

It is not misinformation. There were some very unfortunate incidents recently that has led to a very ugly situation at Elder. I will not go into the details but my source close within the organizations informs me that 10+ players, many of which are key starters, are done for the year.

Very sad end to a very bad season for Elder. As I said earlier, Highlands win this one going away.

When Clyde breaks news like this, go ahead and assume it's true. He doesn't seem like the type to be easily duped or buy into hyperbole.

CF verifying it makes the information even more solid.

Not sure what this does to an already fragile Elder team psyche.

No excuses for Elder, with their depth they should be able to have kids step in and compete. The Birds need to go in and take care of biznass and make another KY statement.
