Make no mistake Elder has played one of the toughest schedules in the nation. The Birds must bring their "A " game to win. I'm going with the Birds on this one because they have a strong passing game and a fast defense. If Elder can pound the ball with the A.J. Burdine kid they can win this game. Believe me they are a good football team. By now Elder should have realized they don't have the team speed they've had in previous years and play to their strenghts which is their size advanage. having said that Don't buy into that talk that Ohio Football down this year. there are some Ohio guys who tried to use this as an excuse to discount the wins Ky teams get on Ohio teams. If the Birds can win this will be a very big win for them.

They'd be #2 in Kentucky.
.

I guess if HHS wins tomorrow night then HHS would replace Elder as number 2 in KY?

Depends on who you're asking, horst. Westside response would be to put an * by the win. NKY response would be "let's have a ticker tape parade.:dancingpa"

Consensus opinion from the West says Elder is the underdog. Does this atmosphere bode well for the Birds? I think not. Those kids will be out to embarrass Northern Kentucky.

Can anyone tell me why HHS went away from their traditional stack?

HaHaHaHaHaHa. As the Birds will look to embarrass a Cinti. tradition-rich power football program and a GCL team tomorrow night. If Dale can hang 70 on Ramsey tomorrow night, he will; I can guarantee you that one. As bad as one is saying this defense is, not even Highlands will ever give up 71 to somebody. So I think the Birds are safe in this one. LOL

And for the record, Dale doesnt give one care to the fact that Elder is having issues right now. Why should he? He knows Ramsey and Elder don't care whether or not Highlands has any handicaps or issues. As a coach, you check your softness at the door and you take care of business the hard way.

I honestly don't know the exact reason(s), but considering who made the decision, there's no doubt in my mind it was the correct one. :thumb:

It’s a bunch of guys on one team vs. guys on another team. I don’t think our guys consider the state they’re in, it’s more the school you’re at. This is more Highlands vs. Elder than any state vs. another.
I completely disagree.

I think HHS wins convincingly - not a blowout - but by a comfortable margin. But it will be tainted by the perception of Elder having a "down" year and thefact that Elder has players suspended.

I rarely cross the river unless I absolutely have to. Can someone post directions or the school/stadium address?

Cross the River and turn left...

I completely disagree.

How so? Surely you would agree that a team's players identify themselves with their school more so than their state, no? I suspect that the Highlands players and Elder players want to win for themselves and for their school, and not so they can say " that's a big win for Kentucky/Ohio."

Also, I took Coach Mueller's comments to be a compliment to Elder. We tend to discuss Ohio prep football as a single entity, but there are a lot of prep teams in Ohio and these Ohio programs are certainly not all equal to each other. If HHS wanted a guaranteed win against an Ohio opponent this year they would have scheduled a game against a lower-tier Ohio program and not a program like Elder, which is 4-0 vs. HHS. In this case, if HHS is fortunate enough to win tonight it will mean more to them coming against a program like Elder than coming against some random Ohio opponent.

I completely disagree.
