Yeah they have been around for a while and as far as I know have always been recognized by their famous Smashburger. In fact, had some guys in Ashland that I was friends with in school refer to Dairy Cheer as Smashburger, and I know they were talking about Dairy Cheer because I asked them if thats what they meant and they said yes. So from what I gather there are still a lot of people in the Dairy Cheer area's who refer to that as The Smashburger as well, I guess just because it has Smashburger on the signs.

Smashburger is the bomb. 5 Guys is not even close. I'll never go back to 5 Guys again. It's not that pricey either. Like somebody said, It ain't McDonalds. Apples and Oranges.

I enjoyed my time there. Beautiful country -- I loved being able to look out the window of my downtown apartment and see mountains within what seemed to be arm's reach. Made some good friends while there as well. However, one of the things that chased me away was that hostility toward outsiders that Watusi's new friend spoke of in the other thread.

Looking forward to giving it a shot. Although, I must say I'm already a little disappointed, I was hoping it was going to be like In and Out Burger.

 

But, from what I read, it's not fast food, but more likely will compete with Barleycorns and Applebees in the area. I'll guess Burgers are in the $8 to $10 range. I think it opens in October.

 

Hope it's good, because I'm not a fan of five guys and can't seem to find a good burger hardly anywhere. Man, I miss In and Out Burger.

Read closer Jim. He said his NKY friends warned him, but he hadn't had any hostility and their warnings had been unneccesary. He has enjoyed his time here and his experience had been positive.

Way better? Dang, this place better not disappoint the way that you all are building it up. I think 5 Guys is pretty good.

And my time in the mountains was largely positive, but I did experience some hostility that I can't really discuss in open forum that was quite unfortunate. Still, my time there was a rewarding experience.

Just saw that Smashburger will be opening up next week. Those in the NKU-area will have to go try it out and give us a review of the place...that includes you too MJAllTheWay...lol.

Is this Smashburger as in Dairy Cheer "Home of the Smashburger" ? If so they have some good stuff, especially their ice cream selection.

 

Man, that takes me back. There used to be a Dairy Cheer in Morehead way back in the day. Smashburger and a banana split in a cup was a dinner of choice for me. I didn't know that there were any Dairy Cheers still around.

Just got home from there. It was a good burger. Not as good as 5 Guys or SkinnyLegs/Zolas. Kinda reminded me of Steak N Shake but a bit thicker. The fries were decent. The price was a little much.
