Go line up against an athletic 6'3 270lb avg offensive..Let me know how your team does..They are not fat slobs like most big lines.. The CCH kids can move..

I tend to agree with you about the bluebird offense. Noone has seemed to solve them and with a QB like Towles, they're gonna score there points, no doubt. It's the defense thats a little more questionable. CC proved that a big and athletic line will cause them some problems. Not many, if any of those teams would match scores series for series, but, sometimes all it takes is an int, fumble, bad snap, penalty, or combination of a couple of those things and they could be in some trouble, against teams that possess these things. The best way to stop a great offense is to keep that offense off the field with long, time consuming drives and then hope for an occassional stop, be it by good defense or self imploding themselves, which happens to all teams from time to time. It's scary to think that your offense has to be perfect or near perfect, because that's a heck of alot to ask of anybody, regardless how good you are normally.

What was the final score of the State Championship Game? Yeah...50-0..with Towles scoring 5tds in the first half..The Birds will win #21!!!

Anybody who said that wasn't paying attention last year. Christian County couldn't compete with Boyle last year let alone HHS.

I don't recall too many folks giving Christian a chance last year. They were a small, fast team, far from a big, physical team that tends to give Highlands some trouble. Noone has said the defense is bad, simply pointing out what type team could give them some trouble and CCath does have a good OL, but, I'd be hard pressed to say there OL is better than several of the above teams being discussed and the only reason you're saying it is because they gave Highlands alot of trouble. Contrary to popular belief, that isn't the only criteria. I, for one, haven't seen everyone's OL to determine such and I doubt you have either. I will say a few of those do have big, strong OLs and that's the type team that could present some problems, whether they're as good as CCs or not, I couldn't say.

I am pretty sure there is only one team in Kentucky that Highlands would not be a huge favorite against. I wonder how big of an under dog they would be against the Rocks?

I think the CCH Highlands game proved that 4A isn't a one horse race. That doesn't mean that Highlands isn't the favorite anymore, just that it wouldn't be a huge shocker if they didn't win. I don't know if that means Highlands is "down" or if the rest of the state has caught up. It's probably a little bit of both. As far as comparing them to the other teams across the state, we will never know who is truly better. The old four class system would have given us a better idea by December. This is the huge downside to having 6 classes in Kentucky.

We'll all have to wait and see how the rest of the season/postseason plays out, but one thing I am for sure about: this is not a "down" year for Highlands. Last year was to some degree, given that the talent in last year's senior class was not at high as it was the year before or the year after (i.e. this year). But, Highlands has a very strong team this year, even by HHS standards. They have a senior QB in Towles who is arguably the best in the state at this point, they have a deep and skilled receiving corps, they have a very good trio of RBs in True, Harris and Seidl, a pretty good O-line, a very good linebacking corps, one of the state's best DL in Devin Bruns and two of the state's best DBs in Drake Bruns (headed to UC on a scholarship) and New. Plus, the squad is deep and completely two-platoons. Not to mention, heading into the CCH game HHS was the statistical leader in the state for offense and HHS had managed to end the defending 4A state champion's state-best win streak by beating Boyle County by three TDs at BC to start off the year.

 

Now, I don't know if HHS will end up winning 4A this year or if another team will knock them off, but after talking with several people who have followed HHS football closely for years, I feel confident in saying that this year is an "up" year for HHS.

 

HHS getting a real scare yesterday and giving up 37 points to CCH is more about CCH having a solid team (especially offensively) this year than it is about HHS being "down."

They may be a little more spread type which could play into Highlands favor. Personally, I think Highlands still wins state and I'll have to see someone beat em to not think that, just saying that it may not be as cut and dried as I and many others originally thought, like it is with Trinity in 6A.

Good old Boyle. It's amazing that Boyle will lose more games this year than Highlands has lost in the last 5 years combined. Good luck to Boyle on Friday.

Eveybody needs to relax.....Highlands plays a close game and stop the presses they have been exposed....nobody else has an offensive line like Cov Cath so if Im the rest of 4a I wouldnt start getting to excited about one game...Highlands went into CCH took there best shot and still won. Also why would they have had to fix there defense before this game...people are avg. 5 points a game. Im sure they will adjust there defense for the playoff game and Elder but good god folks give it a rest....CCH is a really good football team and still got beat at home and played almost flawless. If you dont score 40 or more you have no shot...unless your Elder and that goes for the rest of season!

I see a few teams on that list that would beat Cov Cath....rivalry or no rivalry. BG, Scott Co., Warren Central, John Hardin, maybe even Lex Cath and NCC. Cov Cath has a very good football team, but they're no juggernaut. You could say that(prohibitive) about the 2009 bluebirds, but not so much this year....IMO.

 

I don't know if you were at the game Saturday or not. Obviously the Highlands/Cov Cath game is a huge rivalry, but this being a rivalry is not the sole reason that Cov Cath played as good as they did. Their offense is very good and they may have one of the best offensive lines I have saw in a long time. IMO, saying that they would lose to all the teams you mentioned may be a bit of a stretch. If anyone on that list can beat them, it's maybe Bowling Green; I have my doubts about the rest of them.
