I'm guessing most of the people that would argue for the public prayer at the ballgame (like the newspaper is doing) would also be in favor of teaching only English in schools. How ironic that they want others to learn/use that language only, but they have failed so miserably at it themselves.

So would you be satisfied if the Bhuddists would lead the prayer one week , a Cistercian monk the next , then a Baptist minister , then a Methodist Minister ad inifinitum .

^ Heck, I thought that the Bible was festooned with references to slavery, some of them even condoning the practice. My bad, I guess. I'll do my best to be less idiotic in the future.

mountainref , Why don't you and your friends who would like to see the prayer tradition continue at Bell Co. have a prayer flash mob . One or two start the prayer and others join in till a majority of the crowd is praying . There would have to be some planning to start with .You could pass out instructions before the game with the prayer included . Put flyers up around the county announcing your intentions ,and ask for volunterr leadeds . Since it is not sanctioned by the school board and all voluntary it should pass the smell test for legality . Members of the crowd could use megaphones to advance the prayer . Just might work .

At the Elder game last nite the PA guy said something like "bow your heads and ask your god for ........." and never invoked any particular religion's god's name.
