Honestly, for a Christian, you're about the furthest thing from Christ-like I've ever encountered.

I guess Gideon's army was filled with freaks in Judges 8:

 

22 Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, “Rule over us, both you and your son, also your son’s son, for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.” 23 But Gideon said to them, “I will not rule over you, nor shall my son rule over you; (M)the LORD shall rule over you.” 24 Yet Gideon said to them, “I would request of you, that each of you give me [t]an earring from his spoil.”

 

I noticed it said an earring (meaning 1), not a bunch of toungue piercings or all the lip or eyebrow rings you can get.

The key word in that scripture is "the Lord shall rule over you". Not man rule over the Lord, like some are suggesting here. I'm not trying to be mean, and I really mean that, but I just dont get how you can get some of the stuff I have heard here from the Bible I read. Again I'm not being mean, just don't understand.

I am Catholic, and believe a certain set of beliefs, some one else is Buddhist and believes something completely different, another person is Jewish, and believes something different as well. Why does my Catholic, (Christian), belief take precedent over their beliefs? Why is my faith the one allowed a prayer, and those not given one?

 

The easy solution is a simple moment of silence. That allows everyone to pray to whatever God they so choose. It doesn't diminish the impact or effect of the prayer, I promise you that.

 

And yes, I know Jewish and Christian both pray to the same God, it's just an example.

Here is the answer to that. As a Christian I think there is only one way to Heaven, alot of other roads leads to Hades. I dont want anyone to suffer that. Whether you or me or anyone else likes it or not, Jesus says there is only one way to Heaven.....and the other religions are not saying Jesus is the only way to Heaven. So what do you really believe?

Because God only listens when you are posturing your faith for the sake of making a scene. DUH!

I am a saved sinner by the grace of God. There is nothing self righteous about that. I just quoted what the Bible has to say. Now if you dont believe the Bible then you might think what I say is foolish. But thats your choice.

I think you should explain what I am missing. Is it wrong to have laws that says its ok to kill unborn kids who have no way to protect themselves? I know that the ritual of "passing kids through the fire" was dealing with sacrifice to Molech was with kids that were already born, but you see what the Bible says about that? Both instances are with young kids that have no defense of themselves. There were no laws prohibiting this in that culture at that time, but you see what God said about it? There are many laws today( and they are getting more and more) that directly goes against the Bible. Does that make the Bible wrong cause it dont line up with man made laws? To quote Alabama Larry, " God does not change, Man does" God help us.

Right. And then Gideon messes up a good lesson by making a graven image (an ephod) to represent God:

 

27 Gideon made it into (O)an ephod, and placed it in his city, Ophrah, and all Israel played the harlot with it there, so that it became a snare to Gideon and his household.

 

So the real key of the passage is illustrated in that Gideon says the right thing (See Ten Commandments) but does the wrong thing. (making a graven image) I wonder how many may make an honor to God but instead are creating a graven image of their own and err much like Gideon? Hmmm.

Yes. I have several atheist friends just like you. I have told them my opinion and they respect me and I respect them. I dont try to push it on them and I am not pushing it on you. Just stating what I believe. When you came out as being a atheist did I ever come to any of the threads you post in and question you like you have me over my belief?
