I agree completely with the Corey posts. Only correction I have is that for baseball as an 8th grader he saw varsity time and started over 5 games. He earned a letter that year as well. As a freshman he was one of the best for the Rebels throughout the year and post season run starting at catcher while batting 3rd in the order. He should be even better this upcoming season. In basketball last year as a freshman he was the 6th man and even though he might have some starts this year at the games I have attended he was the 6th man once again. In football freshman year he started throughout the playoffs on defense and had the huge interception of Trevor Stellman in the 2nd round that he ran back for a TD. Then this season he played QB and RB for the Rebels. Don't know the stats but he was the KY Post running back of the year. The best part about this award was that he only played running back half of the season. The kid is only a soph. He has some astounding achievments and I look for those to keep piling up especially on the diamond.

If you're talking about best athletes all around......two that would definitely have to be included if not at the top of the list is Brett Sutton and Todd Jacobs. You won't like hearing this, but the academic work load at Cov. Cath. does not enable a lot of these boys to play multiple sports. Plus, that is why we our kids go to high school right? For the education? Oh yeah.....I know some of you think it's all about sports. I saw Corey Farris play this summer....he would not be playing varsity at CCH as a freshman or a sophmore. Agreed. Cory is a stand out player and a 3 sport player. He led his rebels far into the playoffs with rushing over 200 yds twice i believe. Starts in Basketball as a Sophmore started Baseball as a freshman. He's a stand out. Im sure Jefferson and TJ can play the other sports, but they dont. And Cory does and excells in all them.

Jefferson plays football and is getting DI offers in that sport.

I understand your support of Alex Weber FC, and I hope for the very best for him at HC but if he isn't starting for HC then how would you expect him to crack Ludlows starting lineup. Ludlow a team that has been to the Regional Tourney the past 2 years winning the District Championship 2 years ago. A team that I know you were a member of. You claim Alex went to HC because of better coaching but you now claim the freshmen coach was horrible. Bigstud a very knowledgable HC follower and someone who knows Alex well says he will be lucky to be on HC's varsity. I hope he is but I think the thing that dismays me is the ocasssional shots regarding coaching at Ludlow. I mean what is there to argue with a coach who has taken his team to the regional tournament the last 2 years. The new Ludlow coach has some big shoes to fill IMO and I wish him the best.

 

 

Well that IS one of the reasons why he left to go to Holy Cross was because him and his family believed he would get better coaching there. And yes I did say the freshman coach was horrible, so thats why I said he would have been better off staying here at Ludlow because he WOULD have been starting here. I seen the team play last year plenty of times and I have seen Alex play plenty of times. The fact is he would have fit in greatly for what last years team was lacking. He would have been the fastest one of the team, which they had no speed. He would have had one of the top 3 arms on the team, and he could have played any position on that team. Specifically third base or outfield where Ludlow seemed to have to rotate players at alot last year because they couldn't settle on one starter at those positions. So yeah it is pretty easy of me to assume he would have or atleast should have been starting.

 

As for the coaching I really didn't set out to say anything else about it, I was just saying one of the reasons why he left. There were other reasons to like him wanting to keep playing with his teammates from knothole.

 

So I really dont want to get into the coaching matter much that you all have brought up because I think I said enough about it before already...The one thing I will say is that I know I have been critical of the coaching and that is just because I love Ludlow and I am tired of seeing talented get wasted when the teams could be alot better instead of being just mediocre. Small schools like us at Ludlow always have cycles of talented players that come through, and I dont feel like we take of advantage of it when we do. I believe we have started to settle for being the feel good story for a week when we do pull off a upset of a big school, but why should we settle for that when we have talent there to do so much more. If we take advantage of having the talent at are school when we have it, then it might start getting kids to want to go to Ludlow to play sports instead of transfering.

 

So I dont believe I am wrong at all with this because we have had alot of talented players here at Ludlow the last 4 or 5 years and I dont believe we have taken advantage of it. So yes I do get a little angry about this sometimes because I believe we have settled for just being mediocre sometimes and being that feel good story for a week when we could have and should have been so much more.

Cory would not have started football at Dixie, Ryle, CCH or Beechwood last year, too much tallent at his position. He may have started at Conner because they had a QB injury and had to use their receiver under center.

 

He would not have started baseball at Dixie, Ryle, Beechwood or Conner last year, again due to tallented seniors in his position. He may have started at CCH because they had to use Larkin back there, who did a great job but is a natural secondbaseman.

 

Don't think he would started basketball at any of the above mentioned schools....not his strong suit.

 

I do think he is a very tallented young man, and he is fortunate to be in an average program at the right time, which will give him tremendous experience.

 

With that said, he should have a breakout season in football and baseball this year.

Well o.k. you are certainly welcome to your opinion about the coaching for whatever reason but it is hard to argue with 2 regional tournament appearances in the last 2 years. I mean that is better then you can say about HC or even CCH. Must be more to it..

:thumb: Yes I know! It was because of those things that have made everything look like it was alright. So I can see why when people see that they would think that. There was alot of talent on these teams especially the 04 team and it just overcame over came everything by the end of the year by showing everyone what kind of team we were capable of being by beating Cov Cath and then winning the district. It was because of the talent on the team that we overcame everyhing... So as I said I really never wanted to get into any of this again so Im just going to stop here because the people who played on the teams and people who just know the past experiences of these players on the team would understand what Im talking about and agree with me on this.

Beau Brake will be a very worthy replacement ther.

 

I agree Beau Brake will be a very good coach here at Ludlow. He seems to be very knowledgable about baseball, and the players really seem to like him from what I have heard from them so far. He will have a tough challenge with losing some very good senior leadership last year in Shackelford, Behrens, Miller, Skinner, lokesack because they were really key to last years team. But he will still have a nice little team especially with Kyle York who I expect to be one of the better players in the region this year. I wish Coach Brake the best of luck Im sure he will do a great job.
