I still think Highlands doesn't have much to gain and much to lose in this game. JMO.

I'm in agreement with you on that!

I would suggest that you do a little reading prior to posting. There were comments about NCC's coach being involved with the Mitchell situation and how Dale would take it out on his team. There was also mention of a 50 point blowout. Etc. So yes, there is some talk of blowouts. You could look it up.

Note posts: #2, #16, #26

No, that could be said about any team. So that's a pretty weak argument. LN is right--you have no clue in this situation.
LSURock, you don't see me posting in the T vs X debates on this site because I don't know a thing about the situation. You may want to follow that advise here because frankly you don't know a thing about the situation up here.

You referenced my post. My justification for wanting a blowout when we play NCC (and I do) is because I want to make it very clear that our program is heads and shoulders better than NCC. It has nothing to do with what Bob may or may not have done in re Mitchell. Not every kid who attends NCC is a third generation NCC player and the same is true about Highlands. There are a lot of kids in Ft. Thomas who aren't sure at the end of the 8th grade where they are going to high school and as a coach of the 8th grade football team for the last 4 years I am a little bit better qualified than you to know that. By Highlands showing (in the form of a blowout) that it is a much better football program than NCC's, it can (and has) influence kids on the bubble to choose Highlands. If that's too "real world' for you, tough. NAL

And I thought that Highlands stood on the merits of their academics. Sounds like you are talking about recruiting, say it aint so. Also I referenced a number of posts that mentioned "blowouts", My point was if you really want this game thats an odd way to entice an opponent. "Too "real world"...tough", you're talking about 8th graders choosing a high school. Do you realize how silly that language is in that context?

You can't be serious.

Birds of a feather. I'll make a deal with you, stay out of Louisville threads and I'll ignore the 3A NKY threads. :thumb:

Like most would love to see this game. Don't see it happening, but one can hope...

I also wouldnt mind the Birds coming into Newport Stadium.... but against the public school...

Why? To make people think even less of 2A in NKY?

Playing either Newport or NCC is a dream situation for the current players at Highlands.

There's a subtle difference. I know something about Louisville.

No... IMO NCC and Newport would have about the same shot at beating Highlands as the other... I also believe that with John Schlarman at Newport, Newport would have the better shot at getting this game if Schlarman wanted to

You referenced three posts. One didn't mention blowouts. I don't think anyone has ever discounted the fact that some kids attend Highlands because of the athletics. No one is silly enough to think anything on here is going to affect the likelihood of this game happening one iota. It is real world my friend that kids want to play at successful programs. If X was to start dominating T year in and year out in football, don't you think it would have an effect on some kids decision on where they are going to attend high school? I do.

It is more like 33% are born knowing they are going to T, 33% are born knowing they are going to X, and every year the other 33% decide based on the events of the year. The remaining 1% depend on a coin toss.

I think the $18,000 versus $0 decision might loom larger in most cases.

NPT Buckeye,

With all due respect please don't compare Newport to NCC. There is no comparison. If you need facts look at the scores the last 5-6 years....Blowouts :flame:

NCC would fair much better against Highlands than Newport. The Bluebirds would likely win most of the match-ups, but it would have been interesting to see these two teams hook up during the recent playoff stretch. The Breds were on fire......

Thats a lose/lose situation for Ft Thomas. If they win, its because they are a 3A team playing a 1A team and they are supposed to win. The other option is to lose to the smaller team.

Just my non-NKY view. maybe none of my bussiness.

Doesn't seem to hurt CCH vs Beechwood matchup.
