This thread puts Highlands in a poor light. Usually a very strong 1A program begs for the chance to prove themselves against the big boys. However in this case 3A power Highlands is taunting tiny 1A NCC into playing up. The whole situation begs the comment, "why don't you pick on someone your own size". What would Highlands hope to gain by playing this game? What would happen if NCC up and beat them? If the Highlands faithful really want to see this game, maybe they should tone down the "run it up" talk.

The problem LSUROCK is that the blind hog has found a nut and all he wants to do is brag about it. I know that HHS is 3a and NCC is 1a, but what you have to realize is that Ft Thomas is a small city that sends kids to both schools and alot of these same kids play together in JR football. By the way, don't feel to sorry about NCC, they are the only PRIVATE school of their kind playing football in Campbell Co. A pretty large area to select from. I was hoping to renew an old rival.

They can't turn down what doesn't exist.

The blind hog has found more nuts than any hog around. Not bad for the visually impaired.

I thought Dale was pretty realistic about the team this year. I don't recall the exact quote but it was along the lines that they were young and it would take them awhile but they would compete at the end of the season and make a run at the state championship - their goal every year. They played a tough schedule and got beat by a better team in Lex Cath. However, the next two years you might hear him talk his boys up a little more with the young talent he has returning.

By the way if your head coach tells you that you have no chance do you think you are going to work your tail off or are you going to give it a decent effort and say "Well coach says we can't win because we're not real good".

"Because of the way our system is set up, I think we'll always have great football players who are not only fast and athletic, but skilled," head coach Dale Mueller said. "We lost a lot of terrific players from a state championship team, but I think this is going to be one of the biggest and strongest teams in Highlands history."

Dale is anything but a realist. He is so positive that he'll look at an empty glass and declare it half full.

I would suggest that you do a little reading prior to posting. There were comments about NCC's coach being involved with the Mitchell situation and how Dale would take it out on his team. There was also mention of a 50 point blowout. Etc. So yes, there is some talk of blowouts. You could look it up.

First of all, "Highlands" is taunting no one, what you are talking about is a few posts.

Secondly, this was always a big rivalry game for as long as I can remember, kids that live in Ft. Thomas go to one school or the other and they all know each other very well and they themselves would like to play this game. It has nothing to do with picking on someone your own size. You should look into the history of Highlands scheduling, they duck no one and sure aren't afraid to take on the big boys. :thumb:

If you are referring to Highlands players in your last sentence, yes I do expect them to work their tails off.

LSURock, you don't see me posting in the T vs X debates on this site because I don't know a thing about the situation. You may want to follow that advise here because frankly you don't know a thing about the situation up here.

You referenced my post. My justification for wanting a blowout when we play NCC (and I do) is because I want to make it very clear that our program is heads and shoulders better than NCC. It has nothing to do with what Bob may or may not have done in re Mitchell. Not every kid who attends NCC is a third generation NCC player and the same is true about Highlands. There are a lot of kids in Ft. Thomas who aren't sure at the end of the 8th grade where they are going to high school and as a coach of the 8th grade football team for the last 4 years I am a little bit better qualified than you to know that. By Highlands showing (in the form of a blowout) that it is a much better football program than NCC's, it can (and has) influence kids on the bubble to choose Highlands. If that's too "real world' for you, tough. NAL

yeah but hasn't that blind hog has been looking for a lot longer than any hog in the forest? And me thinks he may have missed more nuts than any other hog in the forest also. What he did do (which was smart) was find himself some younger, smarter hogs to help him look for those nuts and they have done a pretty good job (and for the record and for those who don't see the obvious, no I don't think Bob is a hog)

Well, by your logic, I guess mean ole' 3A Boyle County should be criticized for wanting to play and beat up on poor little 1A Danville every year!

I frankly don't want to see this game, but I certainly understand why many do: as was stated earlier, MANY NCC players (including this year's star QB and apparently next year's starting QB) live in Fort Thomas, and have played against the players on HHS' team while growing up. Plus, both schools are in the same county, and are very close in proximity. Also, given that both programs are doing so well, and that it's been awhile since they played, I'd have to think that such a game would draw a pretty big crowd (for a NKY game, at least... since by LSURock's T/X attendance standards, this would be nothing more than a small intimate gathering)! :D

Also, other than possibly CovCath, if ANY football program in this state has proven time and again that they are willing to take on programs MUCH, MUCH larger than their own, it's Highlands, so I'm not buying the "why don't you pick on someone your own size" bit.

I still think that game should be Danville's call. As I understand it in the early years that game was all Danville. It helped Boyle build into the fine program they have today. I'd say for the most part in the early 2000s it was lose/lose for Boyle. I still think Highlands doesn't have much to gain and much to lose in this game. JMO.
