I think the $18,000 versus $0 decision might loom larger in most cases.

I assume the 18m refers to the aggregate tuition for 4 years at NCC (which I don't know to be an accurate number). The cost of tuition may be why some kids attend Highlands but would rather go to NCC. But I know plenty of people who can afford tuition at NCC whom send their kids to Highlands and I know some kids whose parents aren't necessarily wealthy who find a way to send their kids to NCC, so I'm not sure money is necessarily the major determining factor a whole lot of times. You may be right, but from what I know I don't think you are.

NPT Buckeye,

With all due respect please don't compare Newport to NCC. There is no comparison. If you need facts look at the scores the last 5-6 years....Blowouts :flame:

NCC would fair much better against Highlands than Newport. The Bluebirds would likely win most of the match-ups, but it would have been interesting to see these two teams hook up during the recent playoff stretch. The Breds were on fire......

Newport or NCC would be the same unless margins mean anything to you.

There isn't a year in the past 15 that NCC could have beat Highlands.

And I thought that Highlands stood on the merits of their academics. Sounds like you are talking about recruiting, say it aint so. Also I referenced a number of posts that mentioned "blowouts", My point was if you really want this game thats an odd way to entice an opponent. "Too "real world"...tough", you're talking about 8th graders choosing a high school. Do you realize how silly that language is in that context?
Recruiting? These kids live in Fort Thomas. How would that be recruiting?

LN is right, you seem to know nothing about this area, maybe you should stick to Louisville threads. :D

I know one thing about your "area". If you actually limited yourselves to just Ft. Thomas kids you wouldn't get into any trouble with the KHSAA. You also wouldn't have as many titles I'm pretty sure as well. I await your witty comeback.

What I'm saying is the cost of tuition is a large factor in determining where students attend and certainly more of a factor than any results of a sports contest would be.

And remember most students are not an "only child". So the number of other siblings just multiplies the $18,000. Sure there are families that could afford a private education that choose not to pursue that route, and yes there are families that can't afford it that somehow find a way. My point is the money is a major factor and the choice to pursue a private education is usually decided upon long before an 8th grade year for most families.

Why would I want to have a "witty" comeback for such a comment?

Again, maybe you should stick to Louisville threads. ;)

Again showing a lack of understanding of the situation...or perhaps just trying to push some buttons. I guess you resort to insults when all else fails.

The NCC or NHS vs. HHS games were a tradition of the bygone era. I enjoy "needling" many friends of both Newport teams about victories over them an detest hearing about a certain goal line stand in 1974 that didn't go the 'Birds way. That's what makes for a good rivalry. Not to mention getting the bus "rocked" or a food fight or two at McDonald's!!
