July 28, 201115 yr Dusty said earlier that it's an unknown if Alonso can play OF at this level. He actually stated that speed is an issue and he's truly a first baseman. They know he can hit and it's good to have a LH bat on the bench. He will get time but Heisey will get the majority of it. Ironically, he laughed about the same thing LRCW said yesterday. They complain Heisey should get a shot and when he does, complain that Alonso isn't playing. As for Jocketty, no way he has ANY input on who goes in the lineup and where.
July 28, 201115 yr It's officially time to get rid of the veteran guys and start reloading. This team is a trainwreck. When you allow a team like the Mets to come in and completely dominate you, you just need to start over. Lucas Duda and Josh Thole? I mean seriously, this team has flat out quit.

July 28, 201115 yr ^ May very well be, but I assume that if Walt is going to call up prospects (like Cozart, Alonso, etc.), he's going to let Dusty know whether or not the team wants to see what they can do or if they're up to simply be a body on the bench. It's not going to make a difference soon. They will be sellers probably this weekend and the young guys should get plenty of opportunities to play. Hernandez will be gone as well as maybe others which should open up some other opportunities.

July 28, 201115 yr They said he is coming up today? How'd you get that? They said that Hernandez will likely get moved and if/when they do, they think Mesoraco would be called up to share time with Hanigan. It was not official but it sounded like Hernandez was definitely going somewhere.
