July 31, 201115 yr Cincinnati has dominated this series. It's a shame they've played so poorly the past 2 months. Anything's possible but they have a huge hole to get out of. Luckily their August schedule is terrible. If there's ever a time for them to run off a good streak of games and get back in the race, now's the time.
July 31, 201115 yr Cueto dominated today, and now qualifies to lead MLB in ERA. This early but I would love to see a starting rotation like this for the Reds next year. Cueto Chapman Leake Volquez/Homer Wood Trade Arroyo, and either Volquez or Homer. Honestly I would love to see the Reds move Homer to a guy who can be the closer of the future instead of Chapman and have Chapman in the rotation.
July 31, 201115 yr Author Now today and this series is the Reds baseball that we all are wanting to see! Queto was absolutely great today. Hopefully the Reds can take the high from this series and get on a good run, starting at Houston. Great series at the plate as well. Lets just hope that we will see some consistent play like we have in this series.

If he is his deferred money has to be paid up front. Homer is much to valuable to be a closer.
July 31, 201115 yr At this point it doesn't matter what the Reds do. They have built themselves too deep of a hole with too few games remaining. They now have to have help from the other 3 teams ahead of them. The Cards and Brewers play each other 8 times next month, and they both play 7 against the Pirates in August. The outcome of those games will be a real determining factor as to how close the Reds can get before September starts. Those are guaranteed losses distributed in some way to all 3 teams ahead of us this month.

They now have to have help from the other 3 teams ahead of them.I understand what you are saying but I won't rule it out just yet. Yes, climbing over three teams will be tough. IF the Reds can do it then they certainly can't go into anymore bad stretches, is going to have to take consistent winning baseball to have a chance.

They have to stay hot, play winning baseball for the rest of the way out.
