People are basing it off of past years, and based on both teams history, not head to head perse but just in general then it would likely be St. X favored by 4-5 TD's.

My Friends, I do not think my friend Ox is sandbagging anyone this year. It will be a downyear for the Tigers, and the schedule will not help matters. We just hope everyone takes it easy on us.

You posted on another thread about SK's top LB being on crutches and "you hope" he is back soon because he's your best LB. Are you already making excuses or is it different since it's SK?

Nobody is hurt, they were hitting hard yesterday in practice. The backers (Stone and Clyburn) look great. QB Mattingly looks good and is a better passer than I have seen. The only deal right now is that the two retuning running backs are nursing a pulled hamstring and some calf issues. Someone surmised it best in that last years team had some real personality issues that this team does not seem to have.

 

They will get better as the year goes on.

SK has no pity on ST X I hope they run the score up on them!

I gotta believe X "wins" this scrimmage. I heard X is putting a new defensive scheme this season. If this is true, then one would think that their D will be somewhat behind at this juncture.

Coach Glaser set up his defense to stop Simpson and the running game, forcing someone else on the SK team to carry the load. Simpson did not play more than 2/3rd's of the game because he wasn't used to getting hit that hard, so quite often, off to the sidelines he trotted.

 

Chad Lawrence played a wonderful game for the Pioneers. First he took advantage of the Tigers over-committal to the running game by throwing to the holes in the St. X. zone. When the Tigers adjusted to this, he pulled the ball down and ran for big plays. Nonetheless, despite his heroics and Simon Kenton playing the best game in their school history, the Pioneers returned to NKY with their tails tucked between their legs as 48-34, 14-point losers. If a 14-point loss is the zenith of your bragging rights, then so be it.

 

I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed the game and having the opportunity to host and converse with some great Simon Kenton fans. Personally, I have a lot of respect for the Pioneers. Your pot-stirring antics, uk#1fan, however, forces a come-to-Jesus post on my part. You rant, rave, and belittle the St. X. offense since it is heavily run orientated. What you fail to do is look at the effect this offense had on your team. Despite having by far the best offense in Simon Kenton history, you team couldn't stop a one-dimensional offense and gave up a whopping 48 POINTS!! Your lack of defense against the run cost you the game. Why should anyone even try to pass against such a team when there is no reason?

 

By the way, in regards to this coming scrimmage at Simon Kenton, I look for the Pioneers to emerge victorious. St. X. is drastically down in talent this season and will be very fortunate to avoid a losing season record. Despite what some other Tiger supporters have said, there is no one on this year's squad who will even get a D1 look. This team will have to scratch and claw its way through every game.

I've always drank a lot of kool-aid when it comes to supporting the Tigers, but at times it pays to be realistic. I am not pulling any "act" when I say that they are way down this season. To our advantage, we will still have big roster numbers to possibly wear down some teams. In addition, we will have a continuity of sound coaching, great team discipline, and Tiger winning tradition on which to rely. However, given our schedule and lack of playmakers, we are going to be in a constant battle to just keep our heads above water.

 

You have had the opportunity over the past 2-3 years to see St. X.'s Freshman and JV teams perform, and have also probably heard comments from family relatives at Tigertown. Haven't you also already drawn somewhat the same conclusion? :idunno:

The best part about this is that as far down as we are this season, your self-acclaimed great team is only rated one slot above us. I guess greatness in football is all relative to what you are accustomed. Since the Pioneers have never achieved anything on the gridiron, I can understand your excitement about having a 6th-ranked team. I'm just glad we are not facing Trinity, Male, Manual, Scott County, or Dixie Heights. :lol: :lol:

How are they comparable? SK knows how to throw the ball and run it all ST X does is run it! SK is not afraid to face any of those teams!
