If Highlands doesn't blow us out I think this class race will be awesome. I plan on attending the 4A title game whether Boyle County makes it or not.

Don't judge all of Highlands' and Boyle's fans by the words and actions of some, lest you want folks to judge all refs by the incompetency of some.

A football ref with thin skin has no business in the business. You need to go do soccer games where you can yellow card the fans that heckle you

I would say that calling a game for Highlands and Boyle Co. would be easy because the players are respectful and well coached. But the fans are terrible' date=' almost as bad as UK B-Ball fans. [b']Most of them just scream and don't know what they are screaming about. Most are especially bad on message boards like this one[/b]. One example is after Highlands won the State last year, one poster was on here saying Highlands vs this team and that team. Really, you won, we get it and you think you are awesome but calm down a little. I want to cheer for them but the fans make it hard.

 

You obviously haven't reffed a Highlands game. A large, large majority of the fans sit pretty quietly and just watch the game (actually that's a criticism I hear from time to time about Highlands fans from some people: we aren't cheering enough. I'm guilty of that charge by the way. If the players need me to cheer in order to get fired up and play hard, they don't belong in jersey with the word "Highlands" on it). A large, large majority of them know the rules very well from my observations over the past several decades. So forgive me if I disagree that most of them just scream and don't know what they are screaming about.

 

Furthermore most of the Highlands fans are not on the message boards so it's impossible for you to know and say that most of them are especially bad on message boards. No doubt that we have a few over the top fans and they have a tendency to gravitate to message boards (they turn me off probably more than they do you); but show me one very successful sports program in the world that doesn't. But it's rather naive to judge the all by the actions and words of a few.

It's a message board . Everyone is guilty of posting things they aren't proud of , and I mean everybody , And I'm one that is at the top of the list. We all get caught up in the heat of the moment and say things that we don't mean or think about before we post . I like to yank some chains and get in a jab or two when I can , I don't see anything wrong with it , it's all in fun. I'm from the same mold as other Bluebird fans , the only thing I'm guilty of is talking too much . Some people think all Highlands fans are the same , which is not true , and that is where they make their mistake.

This one not even close birds by at least 4 td's complete different class of football. Boyle has built great program but is still way behind the level of Highlands

I think it is funny that because I chose the name zebra's eyes everyone thinks that I am a ref. I guess that means rooster shooter is a rooster shooter.

That said, I see ZE's point. Similar to UK Basketball (which he references), the noisiest fans are often the least informed and most opinionated -- 3 strikes against in my book (noisy, ill-informed & opinionated). My approach is to try to inform and shed light where I can and ignore those "black holes" where the light I am trying to shed seems to go in and never return.

 

Can't pretend like they don't exist, but they certainly are a vocal MINority in my experience.

Just second hand info, mainly from on here from people who WERE there and basically said the same thing.
