July 10, 201115 yr Huh??? Thom B is surprised that the guy scores from second??? Why wouldn't they send him? The Reds aren't going to try and throw that guy out at that plate. A night doesn't go by that I don't scratch my head at a comment or two by Thom. I think we are seeing why he isn't the announcer in Arizona. Thom Brennaman isn't a pimple on his daddy's behind. He is the biggest homer that the Reds could have ever hired and every play with him is the most dramatic moment he has ever seen. Watching a game and listening to him and Chris (Aristotle) Welsh is very painful. I know that listening to a lot of other team's announcers is painful as well but anymore I long for the days that we can watch a game without the talking heads analyzing every play to death.
July 10, 201115 yr Coco time baby! With a 5 run lead why do you run your closer out there after he threw 31 pitches last night? I don't care if you warmed him up or not. Don't you have a guy in your pen that you will probably option out on Sunday to activate Willis. Start the 9th with him and go from there. You let him throw 21 pitches tonight and tomorrow you may need him again. My bet is that Dusty runs him back out there on Sunday if the need arises. That won't be pretty.

I wouldn't call him a homer. I agree he goes overboard on the good plays. But he goes overboard on the bad plays too. I find both equally irritating. Even worse though are the blatant mistakes he makes. Sometimes I wonder if he is even watching the game. I believe it was last night or the night before he said a fan grabbed a ball hit by Hernandez. The ball clearly bounced into the stands and there wasn't even a fan leaning over the edge trying to get it. At least on that one he corrected himself when he saw the replay. I have seen him make a bad call, watch the replay and still not correct the bad call. I didn't notice him being this bad last year.

Wanted him to get back on that horse that bucked him. It worked out nice that he had wiggle room and was able to close it out.

Honestly I used to like him but I think that since he has been paired up with Aristotle that he tries to show Chris nightly how smart he is. I would prefer that he just call the game and leave all the bs to Welsh. I think that someday soon he will have nicknames for all the players like George Grande does.

Listening to Grande call players by some nickname or a little boy's name (Scotty ... ) was like fingernails on a chalkboard.
July 10, 201115 yr How did Scott Rolen make the AS game? Bruce Bochy must really like Scott a lot given his numbers. Do you think that Rolen is singing his swan song with his All-Star plans? See link below. http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110709&content_id=21666356&vkey=news_cin&c_id=cin
July 10, 201115 yr How did Scott Rolen make the AS game? Players vote. Chipper was the players pick and the next highest players pick (Polanco) is injured.
July 10, 201115 yr Thom Brenneman must have an awful screen to look at in the booth for replays. I'd say about a third of the time he's analyzing something on a replay, he's blatantly wrong. Just like him watching Aroldis "get spiked" 6 times on the replay before he realized he actually was twisting his ankle. Or the ball "hitting the side of the mound" when it clearly struck Cordero's shin.
