A kid in union that wears number 34 is thinking he will win the game.

Colerain will be heavily favored but the Raiders will strap it up and compete and play fearlessly for 48 minutes and will not quit. That's how they are trained to play. Ryle will need to be able to pass much more effectively than last year to hang around. Any district team will seem slow compared to what the Raiders will see up in northern Cincy so I see the game as advantageous for the Raiders.

I totally agree that a moral victory is waaay better than being embarrassed , but as you know , some top programs in the state don't accept a moral victory as a win. If Ryle accepts a moral victory as a win , that's fine by me , if it's fine by them. Can a good coach really go into the locker room and tell his team , "thank God we didn't get embarrassed " it's ok that we lost by so little of a margin ?

 

As far as the Union people go , I will agree with you on that . I know people on here don't want to hear about the Cincy X game in 09 , but I feel that is relevent to the thread topic . Similar circumstances , Ky team facing Ohio power at their home field. I personally Thought Highlands had a shot at X from a talent talent standpoint . I thought Highlands could match up speed wise , but the size of the D and O lines had me worried big time . Personally I felt the way Ryles fans are feeling, They hope their team beats Colerain , but if they don't , they hope that Ryle doesn't get blown out. Of course Ryle has closer enrollment numbers , than Highlands did with X so that is a plus . Ryles program is playing some great teams and playing Highlands twice in one year should be proof of that. I'm sure a lot of people in the fort felt the way I did before that game in 09 , will they admit it , I don't know or care.

There is no way Colerain wins this game by 50 points....that's nuts. The Cards are breaking in a new QB and this will only be week 2 of the season for Colerain.

 

That being said, I do believe the Cardinals will win by a 21+ point margin...but not more than 28 or so. The Cards won't run up the score as Colerain has built a good relationship with Ryle across many sports and looks forward to the continued contests with the Raiders.

I don't see it that way hbf. This game is a huge gamble by Coach Warner. If the Raiders keep it close then it is a huge success and I am sure they are using this game for motivation. However, if the Raiders get thumped I think the game is a net negative.

 

Couldn't agree more! I will be pulling for Ryle of course! But I just think Colerain will be too much!

Ryle just doesnt match up well against the Cards. JMO.

I just think it is way too early to determine the amount of talent a team will have, until the product is put on the field. I am in no way predicting an upset over Colerain, but there is still a ton of talent in Union and i suppose those in Independence and "raderbird" land are unaware of it. Colerain will be incredibly tough to compete with but Ryle is accepting the challenge.

Colerain's offense is not near the level of its defense. That being said, Colerain's ones will hold Ryle to under 100 total yards in the first half, and wear them down to the point that I see a 35-0 game. Cocoa went past midfield 2xs yesterday. I don't see Ryle getting there by offense alone. They'll need a lot of help from their special teams.

While I agree their D is ahead of their O(new qb who has not run the triple option before) it would be a mistake to think Ryle's D is anywhere near as fast or big or talented as Cocoa's. We're talking about a whole different level of speed. Add in your two backs are probably going to play D and I see a lot of long TD runs for Colerain.
